Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Craftsperson/Flutter/React based in Netherlands.

This is a remote opportunity for a mid-level software engineer who is passionate about building high-quality, maintainable software.
You will work on mobile product features and medium-sized engineering challenges while developing greater technical ownership.
The role combines hands-on development with strong software craftsmanship, test-driven development and pragmatic engineering practices.
You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers, contribute to technical decisions and help turn ambiguous problems into clear solutions.
AI is embedded into the development process, giving you the opportunity to use modern tools to accelerate design, testing and delivery.
You will work across the full development lifecycle while keeping customer outcomes, system quality and long-term maintainability in focus.
This environment is designed for engineers who want to continuously sharpen their craft, share knowledge and grow their impact.

Accountabilities
  • Design and deliver product features and small-to-medium engineering challenges, working with support from senior engineers when needed.
  • Apply sound technical judgment within your areas of ownership, producing solutions that are reliable, maintainable and pragmatic.
  • Take increasing ownership of feature-level outcomes, proactively identifying and raising quality, design and delivery concerns.
  • Bring structure to ambiguous work by breaking down problems, identifying risks and dependencies, and communicating them early.
  • Follow an MVP-oriented approach by delivering small, valuable increments frequently while maintaining a high quality bar.
  • Write clean, test-driven code and continuously improve existing implementations through refactoring and disciplined engineering practices.
  • Apply software craftsmanship principles such as tidy-first and scout-rule practices to improve code quality and maintainability.
  • Understand the purpose behind engineering practices, Developer Experience (DevEx) and DORA metrics, and identify opportunities to simplify and improve systems.
  • Consider non-functional requirements including performance, security, usability and scalability when designing and delivering solutions.
  • Collaborate transparently with teammates by communicating progress, blockers, decisions and next steps proactively.
  • Share technical learnings, experiments and insights with the wider engineering community.
  • Provide clear, constructive and respectful feedback while actively contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Use AI as a development collaborator to accelerate software design, testing, problem-solving and delivery.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing applications with Flutter and Dart.
  • Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining mobile applications for both Android and iOS.
  • Experience with state management solutions such as BLoC, Provider or comparable approaches.
  • Practical experience integrating Firebase, including services such as Firestore, Authentication and Push Notifications.
  • Strong understanding of Git and modern version control practices.
  • Good knowledge of mobile design principles, architectural patterns and development best practices.
  • Experience publishing and managing applications through both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
  • Solid experience applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) in production environments.
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive unit, widget and integration tests in Flutter.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, with a focus on clean code, maintainability, quality and pragmatic delivery.
  • Ability to work independently on feature-level problems while collaborating effectively with more experienced engineers.
  • Strong communication and feedback skills, with a proactive approach to identifying risks, asking questions and sharing knowledge.
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted software development and willingness to incorporate AI tools into the engineering workflow.
  • Experience with React.js and Ruby on Rails (RoR) is a plus.
Benefits
  • Fully remote, remote-first working environment with structured flexibility.
  • Shared core working hours that support effective collaboration while maintaining individual autonomy.
  • Twice-yearly in-person co-working sprints, with travel expenses covered.
  • Annual company retreat, with travel expenses covered.
  • Dedicated learning and development budget.
  • Sponsorship opportunities for conference talks and professional knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Comprehensive medical and term insurance coverage.
  • Employee-friendly leave policies.
  • Home office fund to support a productive remote working setup.
  • A collaborative engineering culture focused on pairing, refactoring, experimentation and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunities to explore AI-assisted development and modern software engineering practices.
  • An environment that encourages continuous learning, technical mastery and high-quality craftsmanship.
