Design the embedded software that powers Graco's next generation of products. In this role, you will turn customer and market needs into practical solutions, guide prototypes through testing and release, and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams. You will contribute to new product development and cost-reduction initiatives while building expertise in both embedded software and electrical hardware.

What You Will Do at Graco

Develop Innovative Products

  • Develop embedded firmware and software for new products and cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Contributetoproduct specifications and translate requirements into practical design concepts.

  • Read and interpret circuit schematics, hardware drawings, and software code.

  • Identify applicable standards and analyze designs for compliance.

  • Use engineering tools and techniques, including circuit simulation and software analysis, to evaluate designs.

  • Define and lead prototype development, laboratory testing, and field testing.

  • Review technical documentation, including instruction manuals and product literature.

  • Partner with manufacturing to develop effective production processes.

Lead Projects

  • Lead small new product development projects and coordinate work across the project team.

  • Complete project feasibility and pre-production authorizations.

  • Create and maintain schedules, track progress, and communicate risks early.

  • Support release-for-sale activities and provide clear oral and written status updates.

Shape Solutions Around Customer Needs

  • Identify new product opportunities by understanding customer needs and market trends.

  • Evaluate Graco and competitive products to uncover opportunities for improvement.

  • Propose and develop technologies that solve meaningful customer challenges.

Support Products and Grow Your Expertise

  • Support products by preparing Engineering Change Orders, troubleshooting issues in manufacturing, the lab, and customer locations, and initiating corrective actions.

  • Stay current on developments in embedded systems, electrical engineering, and relevant industry standards.

  • Build knowledge of Graco products, operating systems, customer applications, and quality processes.

  • Monitor emerging trends in customer markets and apply insights to product development.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring to Graco

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or a related field.

  • 3+years of successful new product development experience.

  • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux, real-time operating systems (RTOS), C/C++, object-oriented programming, and/orGit.

  • Strong engineering judgment and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.

  • Ability to recognize customer needs and market trends that influence product requirements.

Accelerators

  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and CODESYS.

  • Experience in a global industrial manufacturing environment.

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation. If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees. Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
