Job description

Job Summary:
The Junior Drafter supports engineering and design teams in the development of technical drawings and project deliverables for EPC projects. This role produces and updates CAD drawings based on engineering inputs, sketches, and specifications while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards. The Junior Drafter works closely with engineers, designers, and under the direction of senior drafting staff to incorporate revisions, resolve design updates, and maintain organized project documentation. This position plays a key role in supporting the translation of design concepts into clear, constructible drawings for engineering, fabrication, and construction use.
Responsibilities:
  • Create technical drawings, layouts, and detailed designs using CAD software in accordance with project requirements.
  • Review and interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design inputs to develop accurate drafting deliverables.
  • Collaborate with senior drafters, designers, engineers, and project managers to incorporate feedback, resolve discrepancies, and implement revisions.
  • Endeavors to learn applicable industry standards, client requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Update and revise existing drawings to reflect engineering changes, site conditions, and design modifications.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, drawing registers, and version control in accordance with project procedures.
  • Convert hand sketches, redlines, and markups into accurate digital CAD drawings for engineering, fabrication, and construction use.
  • Assist in organizing and managing drawing packages for issuance, review, and construction workflows.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design alignment and proper integration of multi-discipline inputs.
  • Perform basic checks on drawings for completeness, accuracy, and consistency prior to submission or issue.
  • Support continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and detailing practices within the team.
  • Performs related duties, as needed.

Qualifications / Education Requirements:
  • Minimum of associate's degree or certificates in drafting, technical drawing or related fields.
  • 0-4 years experience drafting in EPC environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering terminology and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, specifications and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and industry guidelines.
  • Knowledge of document management systems and collaboration tools.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to design changes.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and excellent verbal/written communication skills

Software:
  • Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, BricsCAD, ECE DIAGRAMS, or CADWorx.
  • Advanced Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation):
  • Ability to lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication capabilities.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
