Job description

The position of Senior Drafter was established for the purpose of supporting the production department with the planning and construction of homes through the drafting of designs. They are responsible for drafting of housing plans, revisions according to code and supervisor changes, drafting site plans, and other administrative duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Senior Drafter:
  • Produces full detailed residential construction plans for permitting and construction with little to no supervision
  • Able to elaborate functional sketches/plans from abstract ideas and or sketches.
  • Has good Architectural drafting skills and uses best practice standards
  • Able to read and interpret current IRC/IBC Codes
  • Substantial knowledge of the construction trades -- their field work, and construction methods. (Concrete, Frame, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural)
  • Understands development and zoning code/regulations.
  • Able to read and interpret civil plans
  • Able to read and interpret grading and drainage plans, retaining rock wall sections and designs
  • Familiar with Texas and New Mexico areas permitting processes and document requirements for permit acquisition
  • Able to read and check prefabricated truss design plans and details
  • Reviews construction drawings for completion and accuracy and coordinates with management

Qualifications include:
  • Minimum Associate’s Degree
  • AutoCAD, Adobe acrobat
  • Experience in construction a plus
  • Microsoft office products
  • Good Communication skills
  • Bilingual, Spanish and English
