Job description

Forsgren, an Apex Company is seeking a Structural Engineer to be based in Logan, UT.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs in lead technical role through the entire lifecycle of a project including development of design documents including calculations, engineering plans, and specifications
  • Works independently in directing junior engineering and design staff on various design and construction tasks; and provides regular communication and updates to the project manager.
  • Exhibits strong project management knowledge and skills demonstrated by the ability to proficiently develop and complete a project schedule while having the adaptability to make appropriate changes when required.
  • Performs occasional field work to perform construction inspection for compliance with industry and client standards.
  • Support business development by assisting with proposals to provide engineering services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering (or related field)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Utah (or have the ability to obtain such a license within three months)
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis/modeling (Risa 3D, Dlubal RFEM 6 or similar) preferred
  • Must be detail and quality oriented
  • Ability to successfully manage client relationships
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain flexibility to changes in work assignments as changes occur in projects
  • Ability to mentor and direct efforts of EITs and receive direction from senior level managers
  • Excellent verbal skills exhibited in meetings, one–on-one exchanges and presentations; good written communication skills required for writing in a technical format
  • Must work well with others as the position requires a great deal of collaboration both within the office and with clientele
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
