Job description

Test Engineering Intern
Are you the kind of person who wants to know how things work-and then make them work even better? At Electric Power Systems (EPS), you'll do more than observe engineering. You'll be part of a team developing advanced battery technology that's helping shape the future of aerospace, defense, and electrified transportation.
Based in North Logan, Utah, EPS designs and manufactures advanced energy storage systems that power the next generation of flight and mobility. Our mission is to advance, connect, and protect our world with unmatched energy innovation, and we're looking for curious, motivated engineering students who are excited to learn by doing.
As a Test Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers in our testing laboratory, supporting the development and validation of cutting-edge battery systems. From setting up and executing tests to analyzing performance data and documenting results, you'll gain hands-on experience with real engineering projects that have a direct impact on the products we build. This is an excellent opportunity to apply what you've learned in the classroom while developing technical skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
In this role, you'll assist with testing battery modules, battery packs, and related electrical and mechanical systems. You'll help collect and analyze test data, prepare reports and documentation, support troubleshooting efforts, and participate in design reviews and cross-functional engineering discussions. Along the way, you'll learn about industry testing standards, product qualification, laboratory best practices, and continuous improvement processes.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, pays attention to the details, and isn't afraid to ask questions. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Junior or Senior standing is preferred, although exceptional Sophomore students will also be considered. Strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
Experience with engineering tools such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or CAD software like SolidWorks is a plus, but it's not required. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your technical curiosity, and your enthusiasm for engineering challenges. If you're interested in aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, or electrified transportation, you'll find plenty of opportunities to grow at EPS.
At EPS, interns aren't just observers, they're contributors. You'll be trusted with meaningful work, mentored by experienced professionals, and exposed to technologies that are helping redefine what's possible in energy storage. Whether you're assisting with product validation, supporting failure investigations, or helping improve testing processes, your work will make a difference.
While many internships are summer-focused, this position is designed to continue throughout the year, offering flexibility to accommodate students' academic schedules.
Because EPS supports customers in the aerospace and defense industries, this position operates within an ITAR-compliant environment. Access to certain information associated with this role may require applicants to qualify as a U.S. Person under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
If you're ready to gain hands-on engineering experience, expand your technical skills, and contribute to innovative technology that's powering the future, we'd love to hear from you.
Why join EPS?
  • Gain meaningful, hands-on engineering experience on real products.
  • Work alongside talented engineers in a collaborative environment.
  • Build technical skills that will prepare you for your engineering career.
  • Be part of a company that's advancing the future of energy storage and electrified transportation.
