Workplace Technology Overview
The Workplace Technology team provides high-quality technical guidance and support for workstation systems across the American Chemical Society. The team focuses on enabling staff productivity through reliable, secure, and well-managed endpoint technology.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Level 3 Desktop Engineer to support a multiplatform enterprise environment. This role focuses on endpoint engineering, automation, and lifecycle management across Windows and macOS devices. The position leverages enterprise endpoint management platforms (including Ivanti Neurons) and emphasizes building durable solutions that improve efficiency and enable Level 2 support teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain endpoint management policies for Windows and macOS, ensuring secure and consistent configurations
  • Act as a senior technical resource for endpoint management platforms (including Ivanti Neurons), partnering with internal teams and vendors
  • Build and maintain automation using endpoint platforms and scripting (e.g., workflows, bots, sensors, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Manage application packaging and automated software deployment processes
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for issues escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 teams
  • Create solutions, documentation, and automation that enable Level 2 Desktop Engineers to resolve issues independently
  • Collaborate with Information Security, Infrastructure, and Help Desk teams on endpoint strategy and initiatives
  • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base content
  • Support hardware and software lifecycle planning, refresh, and modernization efforts
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in desktop engineering or endpoint administration in a mid-to-large enterprise
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong experience designing and operating enterprise endpoint management solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 10/11 enterprise environments (e.g., Group Policy, imaging, registry, remote support)
  • Working knowledge of macOS enterprise support and management
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and hybrid/cloud environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Ivanti Endpoint Manager and/or Ivanti Neurons
  • Experience supporting Windows and macOS environments at scale
  • Experience with Jamf or other macOS management platforms
  • Familiarity with endpoint security, EDR, or vulnerability management tools
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers

This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office. A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is between $110,000-115,000 per year.
