Job description

At SimPL Freight Solutions, we simplify transportation for companies that move a lot of freight but don't want the headache of managing it all themselves. We step in as their transportation team - coordinating shipments, managing carrier relationships, tracking performance, and improving how everything runs behind the scenes.

Our customers range from large manufacturers to high-volume distributors across industries like automotive, building materials, food, and packaging. No matter the industry, the goal is the same: keep freight moving smoothly, efficiently, and without surprises.

We pride ourselves on being proactive, responsive, and accountable - anticipating issues, communicating clearly, and continuously finding better ways to deliver results.

Position Overview

Are you naturally curious, comfortable working with numbers, and always asking why? SimPL Freight Solutions is looking for a Junior Data Analyst who is excited to turn data into meaningful business insights.

This is an early-career opportunity designed for a recent graduate or someone beginning their analytics career. You will join a growing analytics department within a fast-growing logistics company, where your work will support real decisions involving clients, pricing, operations, and company strategy.

You will not be expected to know everything on day one. We are looking for someone with strong analytical foundations, attention to detail, and the drive to learn. You will receive guidance from experienced team members while gradually taking ownership of dashboards, reports, models, and improvement projects.

What You'll Do

  • Collect, clean, and validate client, prospect, pricing, and operational data
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Excel, Power BI, Salesforce, and other tools
  • Analyze freight patterns, pricing, service performance, and business trends
  • Turn complex data into clear insights and recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support pricing projects, client strategy reviews, sales presentations, and operational decisions
  • Partner with operations, sales, pricing, technology, and leadership on cross-functional projects
  • Identify data quality issues and help improve the accuracy and consistency of information across systems
  • Document and improve recurring reporting and analytical processes
  • Explore opportunities to automate workflows and use approved AI tools more effectively
  • Present findings and explain how they may affect clients or the business

What You'll Have the Opportunity to Learn

  • How analytics supports pricing, transportation, customer service, and business strategy
  • How to work with large, real-world datasets that may not always be perfectly organized
  • How to design dashboards and reports that business leaders actually use
  • How to translate a business question into a structured analysis
  • How to communicate findings to clients, managers, and company leadership
  • How to take an analytics project from an initial question through a final recommendation
  • How a growing analytics department develops its tools, processes, and standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience; internships, co-ops, academic projects, and related coursework are welcome
  • Coursework or project experience involving data cleaning, analysis, visualization, or reporting

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and charts
  • Exposure to Power BI or another data visualization tool preferred; Salesforce experience is a plus
  • Exposure to SQL, data modeling, or database concepts through coursework or practical experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Foundational data analysis and critical-thinking skills, with a willingness to learn
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

We Offer

  • A competitive salary + bonus opportunities
  • Career growth, development, and advancement opportunities
  • Excellent benefits including:
    • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurances
    • Life and Disability Insurances
    • Company 401K plan with a company match
    • 15 PTO days and 9 paid holidays

Core Values

  • Figure it out, Make it happen
  • Passion & Grit
  • Results Matter
  • Integrity
  • Teamwork
