Job description

Position Summary:
The Re-Spooling Operator is responsible for setting up, feeding, spooling, cutting, and other necessary activities to complete work orders according to customer's specifications.
This position follows a Continental 12-hour rotating shift schedule(2,2,3). The rotation consists of two consecutive workdays followed by two days off, three workdays on, two days off, two workdays on, and three days off. Weekends are included in this rotation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Sets up and operates machine.
  • Observes, monitors, and adjusts machine as necessary.
  • Positions, adjusts, and feeds material manually to complete orders.
  • Reads work orders to determine product specifications or material requirements.
  • Load spools of material onto machine.
  • Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunction and works with maintenance if necessary to identify appropriate repairs.
  • Forecasts ahead to accommodate spooling schedule and daily orders.
  • Assemble spools and boxes as required.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Actively participate and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) -relevant measures (health, safety, and environment) to promote an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workspace.
  • Ensure full adherence to the "Leader Standard Work" profile.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Provide training to new and/or junior employees with a focus on training to the SOP, performing work in a safe & efficient manner, and product quality within control limits and/or specifications as required.
  • Other duties as assigned my management.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Ability to read gages, perform measurements, calculate differences to specification, and percentages.
  • Computer and data entry skills of production metrics into production tracking systems.
  • Manual dexterity, high willingness to learn and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with enthusiasm and reliability.
  • Active listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
  • Visual ability to examine or inspect material.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, order jackets, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing for sustained periods of time.
  • Making substantial movements/motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Frequently lifting and/or moving spools weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb and stoop, kneel or crouch.

Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • 1-year previous Manufacturing experience preferred.
