Area Sales Manager - Industrial Machinery | Ohio & Pennsylvania Region

Home-Based | Ohio & Pennsylvania Region

SCM Group North America is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to develop new business and support customers throughout the assigned Ohio and Pennsylvania region. This home-based position is ideal for a motivated sales professional who enjoys building customer relationships, identifying new opportunities, and growing a territory through strategic business development.

Candidates should reside in or around Eastern Ohio or Western Pennsylvania, or within a reasonable distance of this area. Proximity to a major airport is preferred to support regular travel throughout the broader assigned territory.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced outside sales professional with a background in CNC machinery, industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, automation equipment, woodworking machinery, or other capital equipment who enjoys helping manufacturers improve productivity through innovative equipment solutions.

Compensation
  • Base salary starting at $60,000
  • Uncapped commission
  • Top performers regularly earn six-figure incomes
What You'll Do
  • Develop new business opportunities throughout the assigned territory, including Ohio and Pennsylvania
  • Prospect and identify new customers using strategic sales techniques
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with manufacturers, end users, dealers, distributors, and key industry partners
  • Support existing dealer partners while expanding the dealer network
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing
  • Conduct customer visits, equipment presentations, and product demonstrations
  • Work closely with engineering and technical teams to develop customer solutions
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and close equipment sales
  • Maintain accurate customer and sales activity within the CRM system
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs
  • Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory, with occasional international travel
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience selling industrial machinery, CNC machinery, manufacturing equipment, automation equipment, woodworking machinery, or other capital equipment
  • At least 1 year of outside sales, territory sales, business development, or technical sales experience
  • Proven ability to prospect, develop leads, and generate new business
  • Strong mechanical, technical, or engineering aptitude
  • Experience working with dealer or distributor networks is preferred
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently from a home office
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the territory
