Civil Engineer – Land Development (Civil 3D) | 3–8 Years

Company Name: RTM Engineering Consultants
Location: • Davenport, IA
Project Focus: Commercial, Education, Municipal/Public, Infrastructure Site Development
Work Setting: In-Office
Salary: $75,000 – $105,000 base + performance incentives
Recruited Exclusively By: Luxus | AEC Talent Partners

Position Overview

Step into a role where you're not just producing drawings—you're shaping how sites function, perform, and evolve. This position places you at the center of land development execution, blending Civil 3D technical depth with real-world coordination across disciplines. You'll take ownership of grading, drainage, and infrastructure systems while influencing how projects move from concept through construction.

Behind the work is a firm that has built its reputation on integration, not silos. Engineers here operate within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary platform where civil, structural, and MEP teams align early and often. With structured internal development programs and a clear path toward leadership, this is an environment designed for engineers who want to grow into decision-makers—not stay in production mode forever.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and develop civil/site systems including grading, drainage, stormwater management, sanitary sewer, water distribution, roadways, and site circulation
  • Produce high-quality Civil 3D models, construction documents, and permit-ready plan sets with precision and clarity
  • Integrate stormwater design calculations and support compliance with local and regional regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate across architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure cohesive project delivery
  • Analyze surveys, reports, and technical data to inform practical, constructable design solutions
  • Support permitting processes through documentation, calculations, and agency coordination
  • Participate in site evaluations and contribute to construction-phase support and documentation
  • Track project scope, schedules, and deliverables while maintaining quality and accountability
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of internal team capabilities
  • Take increasing ownership of project components, positioning for future leadership responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • 3–8 years of experience in civil/site and land development engineering
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D (required)
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and site development design principles
  • Ability to interpret codes, surveys, reports, and construction documentation
  • Experience with permitting processes and coordination workflows
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability and willingness to mentor junior staff
  • U.S. work authorization required (no sponsorship available)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or active progression toward licensure
  • Experience across municipal/public, education, or commercial/industrial projects
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary project environments
