Job description

Bollig Engineering is a growing civil engineering firm with offices in Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota. We're passionate about rural communities and delivering high-quality, value-driven engineering solutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer in our Willmar or Two Harbors, MN office to take ownership of complex municipal and aviation projects across the upper Midwest, serve as an integral part of a team-centered environment and share our passion for the development of rural communities consistent with Bollig's purpose and values.

Civil Engineer โ€“ Job Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of professional civil engineering services across all aspects of municipal projects, including design, plans, specifications, reports, project budgets, scopes of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates and coordination of contractors and consultants
  • Develop and review project budgets, scopes of work and fee proposals for municipal clients
  • Represent Bollig in design and construction meetings for municipal, land development and aviation projects, including client and sub-consultant design meetings and pre-bid and construction meetings with contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Own project documentation and ensure projects are completed within scope, on time and within budget
  • Conduct periodic onsite observation to ensure adherence to design specifications and exercise independent judgment in resolving field conditions and technical issues with contractors and construction teams
  • Independently manage client relationships and communications from project kickoff through closeout, serving as the primary point of contact and resolving client concerns with minimal oversight
  • Mentor graduate and junior engineers and contribute to team development
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices to contribute new ideas to the team
Civil Engineer โ€“ Qualifications Required
  • 4+ years of civil engineering experience, with a preference for municipal or land development project work
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution; licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, or active progress toward licensure in South Dakota, Iowa or Minnesota
  • Works with autonomy under general direction of firm leadership; provides guidance to graduate and junior engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and communicate effectively across organizational levels, with a track record of delivering positive client and stakeholder experiences
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment; with an eagerness to learn and contribute to a dynamic work environment
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD and GeoSTORM as well as Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Experience with or strong interest in rural municipal infrastructure projects and small-city project challenges
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning with an entrepreneurial can-do approach
