Your Contribution:

The Junior Cards Fraud and Disputes Analyst supports the Credit Union’s debit and credit card dispute and chargeback processes. This role assists with intake, investigation, documentation, and resolution of member disputes in compliance with regulatory requirements and card network rules. The position plays a key role in protecting members, identifying fraud trends, minimizing losses, and ensuring a positive and timely dispute resolution experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the end-to-end processing of debit and credit card disputes, including intake, documentation, investigation, and resolution
  • Support compliance with applicable regulations and card network rules, including Regulation E, Regulation Z, Visa, and Mastercard guidelines
  • Serve as back up card services operations analyst
  • Prepare and submit chargebacks, representments, and pre-arbitration documentation under the direction of senior staff
  • Monitor dispute queues and aging to ensure timely processing and adherence to regulatory deadlines
  • Communicate with internal teams (branches, contact center, fraud, accounting) regarding dispute status and requirements
  • Review transaction data, merchant information, and supporting documentation to determine dispute eligibility and next steps
  • Assist with provisional and final credit processing and related account adjustments
  • Track dispute outcomes, losses, and recoveries; assist in maintaining dispute metrics and reports
  • Identify fraud trends, recurring issues, or process gaps and escalate findings to manager
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in dispute and card processing systems
  • Interact with other departments and vendors to ensure optimal information exchange, fraud escalations and fraud loss accounting.
  • Provide training to front office staff periodically on dispute-related topics
  • Support updates to procedures and job aids related to dispute management
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • High School’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in card services, credit card operations, or financial services industry, with a focus on credit/debit card products dispute and fraud prevention.
  • Credit Union or banking experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Visa rules, regulations, and compliance requirements including Reg E/Reg Z.
  • Understanding of card network authorizations, fraud preventions systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in card processing systems and software, as well as dispute management platforms.
  • Bilingual with proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Physical requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, use the computer and telephone to complete work, and lift up to 30 pounds at times.
