Job description

Job Summary:
LMI is actively seeking a Junior Back-End Software Application Engineer. This role involves developing high-performance software applications for U.S. government military and civilian customers, focusing on server-side logic and API creation within LMIโ€™s Modeling, Simulation, Prototyping, Wargaming, & Analysis platform.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Develop and maintain server-side logic by writing code that powers the application's functionality, handles user requests, and manages data.
โ€ข Create APIs that allow different parts of the application, or different applications, to communicate with each other.
โ€ข Design database schemas, write queries, and ensure data integrity and security.
โ€ข Ensure the application can handle a growing number of users and data efficiently.
โ€ข Work closely with front-end developers to integrate the back-end functionality with the user interface.
โ€ข Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
โ€ข Participate in code reviews, debug developed code and stay current with software development trends.
โ€ข Ensure all changes or adaptations are thoroughly and meticulously reviewed, tested, and verified to eliminate application downtime or degradation.
โ€ข Collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop reusable code components, and ensure application accessibility.
โ€ข Actively participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTโ€™s) and other engineering working groups to review, assess, and mature engineering artifacts such as concept of operations (CONOPs), system architecture, system behavior, system interfaces, functional allocation, Interface Control Documents/Descriptions (ICDs), and data models.
โ€ข Provide meeting coordination, technical expertise, and software development to assist the customer decision makers.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent STEM-based degree.
โ€ข 1-3 years of experience as a Back-End Software Application Developer with a portfolio, and proficiency in modern object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, Node.js, or Ruby.
โ€ข Experience with both SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases.
โ€ข Familiarity with back-end frameworks like Django, Flask, Spring, or Express.js.
โ€ข Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
โ€ข Experience with efficient data storage and retrieval.
โ€ข Strong, demonstrable understanding of modern design and coding principles and practices.
โ€ข Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
โ€ข Knowledge of software performance optimization.
โ€ข Strong problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred:
โ€ข Experience with testing frameworks.
โ€ข Knowledge of security practices.
โ€ข Active TS with SCI eligibility.
โ€ข Space domain experience.
