About The Role: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Senior Accountant to be part of our Finance team and based out of our Arlington, VA location. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the general ledger functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and supporting the financial reporting process. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of government contracting regulations and requirements, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record of excellence in accounting practices. This role is part of a new segment under the Finance Team, reporting directly to the Controller, so you will have the opportunity to build up the company’s accounting capabilities, and growth opportunities. Clearance & Location Requirements: * All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. * This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 2-3 days in office, based out of our Arlington, VA location. What You Will Do:  * Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified.
* Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in compliance with government contracting regulations and standards.
* Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
* Monitor and reconcile balance sheet account balances, resolve discrepancies, and ensure the integrity of financial data.
* Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
* Perform and reconcile bank reconciliations.
* Run Indirect rates allocation and calculate over and under costs variance
* Perform direct and indirect monthly accruals
* Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including DCAA, outside CPA firms, and other regulatory agencies; prepare audit schedules and provide explanations as needed.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and government regulations.
* Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
* Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff.
* Stay current with changes in government contracting regulations and accounting standards.
* Maintain strong internal financial controls to ensure accurate transactional accounting.
* Build internal relationships as a valued team member to provide accounting and compliance guidance to employees
* Other duties as assigned Who You Are (Required): * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent full-time professional experience.
* 4+ years of full-time professional experience within the defense or government contracting industry. * Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed * Strong knowledge of government contracting regulations, including FAR and CAS.
* Proficiency in accounting software and systems, such as Deltek Costpoint, or similar platforms.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
