AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. Responsibilities Position Description:
The Data Engineer - Jr supports the design, development, and sustainment of data pipelines, data integration, and basic data infrastructure that enable analytics and AI/ML solutions for CD&I. This position focuses on ingesting, transforming, and preparing data from multiple USMC and DoD systems for use by analysts, data scientists, and operational stakeholders. Responsibilities: * Assist in building and maintaining pipelines to move and transform data from source systems into analytic data stores.
* Implement basic data quality checks, validation routines, and data cleansing processes.
* Support the integration of structured and semi-structured data sources relevant to capability development and experimentation.
* Work with senior data engineers and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
* Contribute to the documentation of data flows, schemas, and data dictionaries.
* Implement basic data security and access controls in accordance with DoD/USMC policies and best practices.
* Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and support operations and maintenance activities. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
* 0-3 years of experience in data engineering, database development, or related technical role.
* Basic experience with SQL and at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python).
* Familiarity with relational databases and concepts such as tables, views, indices, and joins.
* Ability to work in a team environment and follow established engineering standards and practices.
* Active TS/SCI Clearance
Desired Qualifications: * Experience supporting DoD/USMC or other Federal customers. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
