Job Summary
The role of a bartender is to provide an above and beyond service experience and to ensure that all guests are served beverages and/or food in a timely, friendly and high-quality way that follows safety procedures for serving alcohol. It is also the responsibility of the bartender to enrich the guests experience and always show genuine interest in their needs.
Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Set up bar at beginning of shift
  • Pick up and count bank
  • Ensure bar is clean, sanitized and fully stocked with juices, produce, beer, wine, cups napkins and silverware
  • Fill and maintain ice wells
  • Cut fruit and make purees
  • Greet all guests upon arrival
  • Upsell food and beverages
  • Anticipate the needs of guests
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the shift by wiping down and cleaning bottles, wells, and surfaces
  • Clean and maintain beer taps and frozen drink machines
  • Close/ break down bar and clean all workspaces and equipment.
  • Take trash to dumpster as needed
  • Brush and squeegee floors
  • Properly store produce for next day
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with guests about job-related needs
  • Ability to read write and speak and communicate in basic English preferred
  • One year bartending experience in a high-volume facility is preferred
  • Must have in person customer service experience
  • CPR Certified
  • Food Handling Certification
  • Alcohol Awareness Certification
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcohol

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Ability to perform consistent work to the highest of standards
  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests
  • Ability to interact with guests in a pleasant friendly way
  • Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service
  • Ability to memorize different Food & Beverage menus
  • Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative patrons
  • Ability to learn cash register software used by bar or restaurant
  • Ability to complete orders quickly and accurately

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
  • Must be able to stay on feet for entire shift
  • Must be able to continuously prepare beverages for long periods of time

Working Conditions
  • Fast paced high volume bar
  • Work may be either indoor and/or outdoor depending on location
  • Exposure to a possibly noisy environment
  • Exposure to extreme heat or cold depending on season and location
  • Possibility of working 11+ hour shifts
  • Potential exposure to naturally occurring environmental factors such as wind, rain, red tide, etc.
