Job Inventory information

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in job inventory management, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in job inventory management often encounter challenges such as balancing stock levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts, managing data accuracy, and coordinating effectively with other departments like purchasing and sales. Addressing these challenges requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with inventory management software, and clear communication with team members. Adopting best practices—such as regular cycle counts, real-time tracking, and ongoing process improvement—can help mitigate these issues and ensure efficient operations.

What are Job Inventory positions?

Job Inventory positions refer to a pool of pre-screened job openings within an organization or agency, often used to fill roles quickly as they become available. Applicants are assessed and placed in an inventory, which hiring managers can draw from when a suitable vacancy arises. This process helps speed up hiring and ensures that qualified candidates are readily accessible. Typically, candidates remain in the job inventory for a set period and may be contacted for interviews as positions match their skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Inventory Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Inventory Manager, you need a solid grasp of inventory control, supply chain management, and data analysis, often supported by a relevant degree or experience in logistics or business administration. Familiarity with inventory management software (such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills are typically required. Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and effective communication help you stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for maintaining accurate stock levels, minimizing costs, and ensuring efficient operations within a business.

About Us
At Gifthealth, we're revolutionizing the way people experience healthcare by simplifying the process of managing prescriptions and health services. Our mission is to provide a seamless, personalized, and efficient healthcare experience for all our customers. We're a dynamic, innovative, and customer-centric company dedicated to making a positive impact on people's lives.
Position Summary
The Inventory Manager is responsible for the full oversight of Gifthealth's inventory operations across two adjacent facilities at 4343 Equity Drive, reporting directly to the Senior Operations Manager. This role leads all aspects of medication inventory, supply inventory, and the movement of inventory between locations, with direct oversight of two Inventory Supervisors and one Warehouse Supervisor who together lead a team of approximately 23 to 24. The Inventory Manager translates operational goals into executable plans across both facilities, maintains accuracy and compliance across all inventory functions, and develops the supervisory team into increasingly autonomous leaders. This position is a primary line of defense against compliance failures, inventory breakdowns, and operational inefficiencies that carry meaningful risk to Gifthealth's patients, partners, and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory Accuracy Management (25%) Own the accuracy of all medication and supply inventory across both facilities; oversee receiving, cycle counting, and reconciliation processes; identify discrepancies, determine root cause, and implement corrective action; enforce chain-of-custody, documentation, and compliance standards; maintain regulatory compliance for medication and supply storage
  • Staffing & Team Development (25%) Lead, coach, and develop three direct report supervisors and their teams across both facilities; manage scheduling, performance accountability, and progressive discipline in accordance with HR policies; build and maintain structured onboarding and training programs; execute retraining processes for associates not meeting standards; identify and advance high-potential team members; develop supervisors into increasingly autonomous leaders to build bench strength and operational continuity
  • Inventory Level Management & Supply Chain Collaboration (25%) Partner with the Supply Chain department to maintain optimal inventory levels across both facilities; monitor stock levels, anticipate supply risks, and take preventive action before issues escalate; coordinate with vendors supplying goods and services; support demand planning and safety stock management to ensure operational continuity
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance (15%) Collaborate with Pharmacy, Operations, and Compliance departments on cross-functional projects, audits, and regulatory requirements; serve as a key operational partner in maintaining compliance with medication storage, DSCSA traceability, and chain-of-custody standards; communicate inventory performance data and operational recommendations to leadership
  • Warehouse Inventory Movement (10%) Oversee the accurate and timely movement of inventory across both adjacent facilities; ensure proper storage, staging, and transfer procedures are followed; coordinate with the Warehouse Supervisor to maintain efficient inventory flow in support of production and fulfillment operations

Qualifications
Education & Licensure
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Pharmacy Technician License (can be obtained on the job) (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Preferred)

Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in inventory management and warehouse operations; minimum 2 years in a warehouse or inventory leadership role (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience managing supervisors who themselves lead teams of direct reports; experience with performance management, scheduling, and accountability processes (Required)
  • Experience managing inventory in a healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated environment; experience managing operations across more than one facility or location (Preferred)
  • Experience with pharmaceutical inventory including medication storage and chain-of-custody requirements; experience implementing or standardizing inventory processes; experience with ERP or warehouse management systems (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, warehouse operations, receiving/cycle counting/reconciliation processes, chain-of-custody standards, and regulatory and compliance requirements for medication and supply storage (Required)
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop front-line supervisors and their teams; strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail and accuracy in inventory tracking and reporting; effective written and verbal communication; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Required)
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate operations across two adjacent facilities simultaneously; read, interpret, and act on inventory data and reports; identify discrepancies, determine root cause, and implement corrective action; prioritize competing demands and make sound operational decisions under pressure (Required)
  • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy or pharmaceutical distribution operations, DSCSA and pharmaceutical traceability requirements, and multi-site inventory coordination; proficiency in ERP or WMS platforms; demand planning and safety stock management (Preferred)
  • Ability to design and implement standardized processes across multiple locations; analyze inventory trends and translate them into proactive operational changes; build and maintain cross-functional relationships across pharmacy, operations, and compliance; develop supervisors into increasingly autonomous leaders; anticipate supply or inventory risks before issues escalate (Preferred)

Work Environment
  • Location: On-Site, 4343 Equity Drive; role spans two adjacent facilities and requires regular presence across both locations
  • Schedule: Full-time; role requires extended periods on the floor including standing, walking, and occasional lifting
  • Key internal partners include Supply Chain, Pharmacy, Operations, and Compliance; key external interactions with customer supply chain contacts and vendors supplying goods and services
