Employer & Industry UsageUsed by companies seeking long-term hires or temporary staffPrimarily used for quick staffing needs and project-based work
Search & Comparison IntentCandidates and employers compare to find suitable employment or staffing optionsClients compare to find the best staffing partner for short-term or project needs

While both Job Agencies and Staffing Agencies connect employers with workers, Job Agencies typically focus on permanent placements and industry-specific roles, whereas Staffing Agencies specialize in providing temporary or contract staff for short-term projects. Understanding these differences helps job seekers and employers choose the right service for their needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Job Agency Recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Job Agency Recruiter, you need strong knowledge of recruitment processes, talent sourcing, and a background in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), job boards, and recruitment management software is typically required. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help recruiters connect with both clients and candidates effectively. These skills and tools are essential for matching the right talent with job opportunities and ensuring client satisfaction in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges job seekers face when working with job agencies, and how can they overcome them?

Job seekers often encounter challenges such as finding roles that closely match their skills and preferences, communication gaps regarding job status, and understanding the agency's procedures. To overcome these, it's important to clearly communicate your career goals and be proactive in following up with your agency contact. Additionally, regularly updating your resume and being open to feedback can help job agencies better match you with suitable opportunities. Building a good rapport with your recruiter can also lead to more personalized job matches and timely updates.

What are job agencies and how do they work?

Job agencies, also known as employment agencies or staffing agencies, are organizations that help match job seekers with employers looking to fill open positions. They typically work with a network of employers and candidates, helping companies find suitable employees and individuals find job opportunities that fit their skills and preferences. Job agencies may offer temporary, permanent, or contract placements across various industries. They often assist with resume screening, interviews, and sometimes provide training or career advice. Using a job agency can save time for both employers and job seekers, and many agencies do not charge job seekers for their services.

Profound is the marketing platform for the AI era. As people increasingly turn to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini to decide what to buy, we give brands the intelligence to see how AI represents them and the Agents to act on it. Today, ~13% of the Fortune 500, plus companies like Ramp, Figma, Chime, Calendly, and DocuSign, use Profound to turn AI Search from a black box into a measurable growth channel.
Backed by Lightspeed, Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, and Khosla Ventures at a $1B valuation, we're a lean, fast-moving team across NYC, SF, Buenos Aires, and London, shipping at a relentless pace and defining a new category at the biggest shift in marketing in 25 years. If you want to do the best work of your career at the frontier of AI, come build it with us.
As an Engagement Manager for Agencies, you'll sit at the intersection of strategy and execution, driving growth across your agency partners. Partnering directly with top agencies like Edelman, Golin, Dentsu, and Wpromote, you'll provide strategic consultation, success planning, and targeted support for their end clients. You'll work closely with internal teams across Sales, Product, and Engineering to address agency needs, drive platform adoption, and deliver meaningful outcomes. As a trusted expert guiding agencies through the future of AI search, you'll share best practices and actionable tactics to enhance their clients' AI visibility through the Profound platform.
What you'll do
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for marketing, digital, PR, and integrated agencies of all sizes
  • Conduct regular strategic business reviews, proactively identifying opportunities and addressing risks
  • Deeply understand customer objectives and proactively manage relationships with key stakeholders across their teams and their clients
  • Effectively multi-thread customer engagements to mitigate risk from stakeholder turnover
  • Collaborate internally with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to optimize customer implementation and resolve technical challenges

Who you are
  • At least 3 or more years of experience in agencies working in an account management role or within the marketing department of a top-tier brand
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver presentations and demonstrations effectively
  • Self-motivated and driven, with a passion for building strong customer relationships
  • Comfortable diving in head-first in the face of challenges and ambiguity
  • Analytical mindset with strong comfort working with numbers
  • Able to own a process end to end
  • Strong at managing multiple initiatives simultaneously and comfortable juggling priorities

Location
This is an on-site role based in our NYC office, designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact.
For this role, the expected base salary range is $80,000 to $160,000 before variable compensation (NYC). Profound's total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process. Our recruiting team will share more details about the full compensation package and benefits as you move through hiring.
Note: All official communication from Profound will come from a @tryprofound.com email address. If you're contacted by anyone using a different domain, please disregard and report it as spam.
