Job description

JIREH METAL PRODUCTS

Job Description: Assembler

Location: Grandville, MI

Reports To: Operations Manager

Interfaces With: Production, Quality, Material Handling, Shipping/Receiving

Role Purpose

  • Assemble components and products according to work instructions, blueprints, or schematics while meeting production, quality, and safety requirements
  • Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications and promptly identify defects or production issues
  • Safely operate required hand tools, power tools, and production equipment to support efficient assembly operations
  • Assembly will be the primary responsibility of this position. Based on production needs, support other value-added production activities, including boxing, secondary operations, packaging, and related manufacturing support

Core Accountabilities

Assembly and Production

  • Assemble components and products according to established work instructions, blueprints, schematics, and production requirements
  • Safely and correctly use hand tools, power tools, and machinery required for assigned assembly work
  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and respond to changing priorities

Quality and Problem Reporting

  • Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and promptly report defects, equipment concerns, and production issues
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and established quality requirements to support accurate and consistent assembly

Safety and Work Area Organization

  • Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and required operating procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace throughout the shift

Department and Facility Support

  • Support boxing, secondary operations, packaging, and other production areas as needed based on workload and production priorities
  • Develop proficiency in multiple production activities through cross-training and hands-on experience while maintaining assembly as the primary responsibility

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in assembly, manufacturing, or general labor preferred but not required
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, and perform repetitive assembly activities
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds independently
  • Ability to safely use required hand tools, power tools, and production equipment throughout the workday

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel required for this position

Language Requirements

  • Must be able to read and write in English

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Safety glasses and hearing protection are required in all manufacturing areas
  • Additional PPE must be worn as required by the task or work area

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with continuous noise and moving equipment
  • Exposure to dust, grease, moisture, and varying temperatures
  • Potential exposure to manufacturing hazards requiring strict adherence to safety procedures
  • Intermittent exposure to outdoor weather conditions
