What is a jff?

JFF is not a widely recognized job title. It may be an abbreviation or acronym that stands for something specific within a certain organization or industry. If you are referring to Jobs for the Future (JFF), it is a nonprofit organization that works to drive transformation in the American workforce and education systems. If you meant something else by 'JFF,' please provide more context so I can offer a more accurate answer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a jff, and why are they important?

I'm sorry, but 'Jff' does not appear to be a recognized real-world professional occupation, so I cannot provide an accurate answer.

Job description

We are hiring a Director of Enterprise & Solution Architecture to own the discipline that turns validated business intent into target-state technical architecture. This role governs how JFF's core systems, integrations, and data flows evolve to enable growth, AI automation, data-driven decision-making, and seamless customer experiences. This is not a steady-state role as JFF is a fast-growing company with transformation work underway. Several strategic, high-complexity initiatives, including CPQ, CLM, and revenue lifecycle management, depend on a coherent target-state architecture and disciplined platform choices. As Director of Enterprise & Solution Architecture, your ownership will include the target-state architecture roadmap, solution design for major initiatives, and the integration and data standards that connect our CRM, ERP, and surrounding SaaS landscape. It will also include leading vendor and platform selection decisions that shape JFF's technology footprint for years to come.
Reporting to the VP of Business Applications, this role is both an individual contributor and a leader that will enable Business Applications to deliver high value solutions with consistency, predictability, and scale. You will work with cross-functional leadership in defining architecture standards, evaluating platforms, and ensuring technical decisions hold up over time while working at the pace of the business. You will work directly with the VP to recommend target-state architecture and major platform decisions. The role leads a small team of Solution Architects, in addition to spending real time directly doing the work yourself, including solution design, integration architecture, and vendor evaluation. You will partner closely with the Director, Business Architecture, who owns what gets built and why, while you own how it gets built and where the source of truth lives.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in enterprise and solution architecture within a scaled SaaS or ERP environment, combining deep technical judgment with pragmatic delivery instincts. This is a fully remote position, with a preference for candidates in Pacific, Central, or Mountain time zones to align with the Business Applications leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
Target-State Architecture & Standards
  • Own the target-state architecture for JFF's core business systems, including CRM, ERP, and the surrounding SaaS landscape, defining reference architectures and integration standards that keep the estate coherent as it grows
  • Own application and operational data architecture, source-of-truth definitions, canonical IDs, and integration standards, distinct from the downstream analytics and warehouse architecture owned by Data & Analytics and Platform Engineering
  • Produce decision-ready architecture artifacts, including Architecture Decision Records, standards, and reference designs, so architectural direction is documented rather than tribal knowledge

Solution Design & Major Initiatives
  • Lead solution design for major initiatives such as CPQ, CLM, and revenue lifecycle management, translating validated business requirements from the Director, Business Architecture into technical designs
  • Partner with the Director, Solution Delivery to confirm designs are feasible to configure/build/deploy/maintain within cost, timeline, and resourcing constraints before they are finalized. Prioritize best practices in configure vs. customize decisions, preserving maintainability and the ability to leverage new feature/function delivery from SaaS providers
  • Champion transaction governance and system-of-record integrity even as AI makes it easier than ever to spin up bespoke interfaces and agents on top of our systems, ensuring proliferating UI layers never bypass the underlying source of truth

Platform & Vendor Governance
  • Lead vendor and platform selection for major initiatives, evaluating options on total cost of ownership, integration complexity, and long-term supportability rather than platform allegiance
  • Prioritize open, interoperable ecosystems over proprietary lock-in when choosing between comparable vendor or platform options, treating openness as a first-order evaluation criterion
  • Drive platform rationalization and consolidation, reducing technical debt and redundant systems across the application landscape

Roadmap & Governance Partnership
  • Own the technical sequencing and effort estimation that feeds the prioritized business initiative roadmap the VP owns and the Executive Steering Committee endorses, in partnership with the Director, Business Architecture
  • Supported by the VP, sponsor a multi-discipline architectural review process for new systems and interfaces. Provide architectural approval recommendations, avoiding the creation of new application redundancies and ensuring security and data integrity across the application landscape
  • Serve as the technical translator between business requirements and what is actually buildable, surfacing tradeoffs and constraints before commitments are made

Team & Practice Building
  • Lead and develop a small team of Solution Architects, setting technical direction while staying hands-on with the highest-stakes design work yourself
  • Establish architecture governance, standards, and a consistent way of engaging delivery and business stakeholders, so decisions hold up across initiatives and outlast any one project
  • Partner with the Director, Business Architecture and the Director, Solution Delivery to keep requirements, design, and execution in lockstep, without becoming a bottleneck between them
  • Support the Solution Delivery team as an efficient and consistent means of delivering at high capacity and quality, while supporting the ongoing operations of the business. Limit development by the architecture team to prototyping and complex solutions that require iteration with functional stakeholders

AI & Continuous Improvement
  • Use AI tools to accelerate architecture documentation, design evaluation, and vendor research. We expect this discipline to move faster because of AI, not despite it

  • Bring a genuine AI-forward mindset to company workflows and systems, including how the practice itself operates

Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years in enterprise or solution architecture roles, including at least 3 to 4 years operating at a strategic level, owning target-state architecture and platform decisions rather than executing against someone else's design
  • Proven hands-on experience designing and implementing integrations across multi-platform enterprise environments, including CRM, ERP, and surrounding SaaS systems
  • Deep architecture background across both CRM (Salesforce) and ERP (Oracle) ecosystems, with the judgment to evaluate platforms outside your direct prior experience
  • Strong grasp of integration patterns, middleware, iPaaS, and API strategies across cloud and on-premises systems
  • Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical designs, without needing a business intermediary between you and the requirements
  • Comfortable operating as a working director, hands-on with solution design and vendor evaluation while also leading a small team and representing the discipline at the leadership table
  • Excellent ability to produce clear, audience-appropriate architecture documentation and present confidently to both technical teams and executive stakeholders
  • Experience operating in complex, multi-entity environments where systems and processes have not yet been unified. You bring order to ambiguity rather than waiting for it to resolve itself
  • Vendor and technology agnostic, prioritizing open, interoperable platforms over proprietary lock-in and evaluating options on technical merit rather than allegiance to any single ecosystem
  • A genuine AI-forward mindset, a real track record of using AI to accelerate your own work and cross-functional business operations, not just familiarity with the tools
  • Leadership instincts that match how we lead at JFF: a servant leader who creates clarity and removes noise rather than controlling outcomes, stays technically credible rather than becoming a tourist in the work, and is genuinely invested in building others up and acting in the company's best interest

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in business architecture, analysis, or consulting
  • A connection to aviation, or the genuine curiosity to build one. We offer a flight stipend to encourage firsthand aviation experience, and we mean it
  • Experience in a private equity-backed or pre-IPO software company, where systems maturity and audit readiness carry real weight
  • Experience supporting M&A integration, carve-out, or TSA exit environments, consolidating technical architecture and platforms across newly combined or separated entities
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks and certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solution Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or CISSP-ISSAP (Architecture)
  • Familiarity with identity and access management patterns (SAML, OAuth, Okta) and ITSM/ITAM platforms such as Jira Service Management and Flexera
  • Background that includes time as a solution architect, technical architect, or engineering lead before moving into enterprise architecture. This role rewards range
