Job description

Concrete Finisher

Franklin’s Concrete and Asphalt Solutions is passionate about being the partner customers turn to first to solve concrete and asphalt challenges! We strive to be the first one people call to give a complimentary bid on concrete or asphalt drive, sidewalk replacement, cracking in your parking lot, crumbling curbs, and everything in between. As a concrete finisher you will be a part of a team that helps to reach these goals.

Pay Range: $20-$25 an hour depending on experience.

Concrete Finisher duties and responsibilities:

  • Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools.

  • Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.

  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.

  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete or pattern or stamp the surface to provide a decorative finish.

  • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surfaces of freshly poured concrete.

  • Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.

  • Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it.

  • Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine.

  • Signal truck driver to position the truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms.

  • Waterproof or restore concrete surfaces, using appropriate compounds.

Concrete Finisher requirements and qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications

  • Experience with various types of concrete finishing techniques

  • Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor environments

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in concrete finishing

  • Certification in concrete finishing preferred

  • Ability to use various hand and power tools

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
