We are seeking a Water Jet Operator to support fabrication and prototype operations. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC water jet cutting equipment to produce precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience operating CNC equipment, reading technical drawings, and working with a variety of metals and other materials in a manufacturing environment.
This role requires in-person support.
Duties:
  • Set up and operate CNC water jet cutting equipment.
  • Review engineering drawings, work instructions, and material requirements before beginning production.
  • Load and position materials on the cutting table.
  • Select and load appropriate cutting programs, tooling, and machine settings.
  • Monitor cutting operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy.
  • Measure and inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other inspection equipment.
  • Perform deburring, cleaning, and basic finishing of completed components as required.
  • Identify machine, programming, material, or quality issues and communicate concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate production, material usage, inspection, and maintenance records.
  • Safely operate forklifts, cranes, hoists, or other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and production requirements.
  • Assist with other fabrication, machining, and shop activities as needed.

Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:
  • Six (6) years of experience in the duties listed above OR Associates degree with four (4) years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience operating an abrasive CNC water jet cutting system.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM, nesting, or water jet programming software.
  • Experience cutting aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, composites, plastics, or other industrial materials.
  • Experience working in an aerospace, defense, automotive, machining, or precision-manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift, crane, or material-handling experience.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.

This position is covered by the Service Contract Labor Standard under a Wage Determination. As such Under the SCA selected candidates are entitled to both the hourly rate aforementioned and a health and welfare benefit.
