This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment.

General Job Summary:

Designs and analyzes aircraft electrical, mechanical, propulsion, and component structures, systems and processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) to produce initial design and specifications for gas turbine/rotating machinery components.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified aircraft system designs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integrity from concept to development.
  • Document changes through a formal engineering change notification process.
  • Participate in design reviews, solving complex and analytical problems.
  • Define test requirements and analyze data for engine builds and testing.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: None


  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, specifically Siemens NX.
  • Exposure to turbomachinery including airfoils, disks, and shafts.
  • Possesses a practical understanding of manufacturing processes and has experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Ability to create a design layout, assign component tolerances, and perform tolerance stacks.
  • Able to trade component material options based on material properties and component application.
  • Ability to make technical presentations internally and to customers. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • BS/MS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years of related experience

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Office and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, mouse, phones, rotating wrist, using tools/equipment).
