Job description

JOB TITLE: Building and Grounds Helper
REQUISITION: FOS00MF
DEPARTMENT:  Jeffrey Energy Center 
LOCATION:  St Mary's, Ks
PAY: $25.45

Scheduled Work Hours:   06:30 - 15:00, Sun-Thurs or Tues-Sat with rotating weekend days off

Headquartered in both Kansas City and Topeka, Evergy employs approximately 4,900 people dedicated to empowering a better future.  We are recruiting candidates for a Building & Grounds Helper at our coal fired Jeffrey Energy Center. Please find below a list of the minimum requirements for the position. It is important the candidates address their qualifications in the documentation submitted for consideration.  

Building & Grounds Helper will be responsible for building and grounds janitorial and basic maintenance functions.

Working Conditions:
Time will be spent in the power plant in a noisy industrial environment.  This includes times of extreme temperature and inclement weather and working in areas at heights above ground as well as slopes up to 30 degrees.  Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, FR clothing, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather steel toe work boots.  Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.  This position works rotating shifts, to include nights, weekends, and holidays, and must be available for overtime.  Must live within a 50-minute drive time of the plant.

When Relief Operator positions become available, qualified Building & Grounds Helpers will be considered for the open positions in seniority order.
