What is a JDE Director?

A JDE Director is a senior-level professional responsible for overseeing the management, implementation, and optimization of JD Edwards (JDE) enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems within an organization. They lead teams that support the functionality, integration, and performance of JDE software, ensuring it aligns with business goals and operational requirements. Typical responsibilities include strategic planning, project management, vendor relations, and ensuring system compliance with company policies and industry standards. JDE Directors often collaborate with other IT leaders and business stakeholders to drive digital transformation and process improvements.

How does a JDE Director typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful ERP implementations?

A JDE Director works closely with cross-functional teams such as IT, finance, operations, and supply chain to ensure that JD Edwards (JDE) ERP solutions are implemented smoothly and align with organizational goals. They facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders, manage project timelines, and resolve issues that arise during implementation. Regular meetings, status updates, and hands-on involvement in process mapping are common, as the director ensures all departments understand system capabilities and requirements. This collaborative approach helps to minimize disruptions and maximize the benefits of the ERP system.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a JDE Director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a JDE Director, you need deep expertise in JD Edwards ERP systems, project management experience, and a background in IT or business administration. Familiarity with JD Edwards modules, Oracle databases, integration tools, and relevant certifications like Oracle Certified Professional are typically required. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills help drive cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations. These competencies ensure effective ERP implementation, system optimization, and alignment of technology solutions with organizational goals.

Job description

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is seeking a Senior IT Business Analyst to serve as a trusted bridge between finance operations and technology. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of business analysis for our JD Edwards (JDE) EnterpriseOne platform - from requirements discovery through solution design, testing, implementation and ongoing optimization. You will partner closely with finance stakeholders to translate business needs into systems which drive measurable cost, quality and service improvements.
Responsibilities
Project & Lifecycle Delivery
  • Lead and coordinate all phases of project activity: requirements gathering, project definition, solution outlining, testing, documentation, implementation, training, follow-up and ongoing maintenance.
  • Exhibit strong project management discipline including resource estimation, requirements gathering and feasibility to help leadership set priorities and sequence initiatives.
  • Proactively lead and direct activities to identify information problems and define well-scoped solutions for management approval.

Business Partnership & Process Improvement
  • Operate in close partnership with client departments, particularly Finance, to develop a deep understanding of business processes and objectives.
  • Deliver solutions which improve cost, quality, and service which can be measured against those outcomes.
  • Communicate with departmental management, business users and peers to define objectives, scope and the content of projects; align stakeholders on what success looks like.
  • Provide solutions, train users and contribute to special projects which advance departmental capabilities.

Technical & Systems Stewardship
  • Understand the complexity of communications and database systems when designing or changing systems which affect these critical components to ensure stability, integration integrity and performance.
  • Analyze, support and help enhance JDE EnterpriseOne processes and modules across Finance, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay and Master Data Management.
  • Implement and support reporting and analytics solutions, including Insight software's Hubble Suite or ReportsNow's DAS.

Professional Excellence & Growth
  • Work to attain the highest level of competence within the department.
  • Continually seek self-education in information systems technology, staying current with JDE release advances, finance best practices, and emerging ERP/reporting tools.
  • Work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Perform administrative and other duties as assigned.

Skills & Capabilities
Functional & ERP Expertise
  • Deep, hands-on proficiency with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in Finance and several related areas such as Order to Cash, Procure to Pay and Master Data Management.
  • Fluency in finance business processes - including areas such as general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and financial close - and how they map to JDE modules.
  • Experience designing, documenting, and supporting JDE configuration changes and enhancements.

Functional Project Leadership
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including estimation, prioritization and end-to-end delivery ownership.
  • Strong facilitation and elicitation skills with proven ability to run requirements workshops with finance and business users and translate them into clear solutions.
  • Sound judgment in scoping, feasibility assessment and helping management prioritize competing demands.

Reporting & Technical Awareness
  • Understanding of communications and database system complexity when introducing changes which touch critical infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with integration points between JDE and surrounding systems (ERP, BI, master data, and third-party finance tools).
  • Working knowledge of JDE-integrated reporting solutions such as Insightsoftware's Hubble Suite or ReportsNow's DAS.
  • Ability to translate finance reporting needs into reliable, well-documented reports and data outputs.

Professional Attributes
  • Independent and self-directed, with a bias toward proactive problem identification rather than reactive support.
  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and to building durable, maintainable solutions.

Requirements
  • BS or BA degree in business, finance, IT or related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, with demonstrated depth in several of the following areas: Finance, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay and Master Data Management.
  • Experience with reporting solutions such as Insight software's Hubble Suite or ReportsNow's DAS.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be within commuting distance of a Trelleborg Office
