What is a JDE developer?

JDE Developers are IT professionals who specialize in developing, customizing, and maintaining applications within the JD Edwards (JDE) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software suite by Oracle. They use tools like JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or World, programming in languages such as EnterpriseOne Tools, C, and SQL to tailor business processes for organizations. JDE Developers work closely with business analysts and end users to implement solutions that meet the unique needs of a company, supporting modules like finance, manufacturing, and supply chain. They also troubleshoot issues, perform upgrades, and help integrate JDE with other systems.

What does a JDE developer do?

JD Edwards was a company that created Enterprise resource planning software. Oracle bought it and continues to produce Enterprise software, which provides integrated management solutions for core business processes. JDE developers program software enhancements or interfaces for business management and have a working knowledge of the EnterpriseOne toolset. They troubleshoot problems in the system, design QA and testing tools to analyze your programs or modifications to existing applications, and maintain program stability for your clients’ needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a JDE developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a JDE Developer, you need strong programming skills in languages like RPG, Java, or C, and a solid understanding of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or World software, typically supported by a relevant degree in computer science or information systems. Experience with JDE development tools, Oracle databases, and familiarity with ERP modules are commonly required, along with certifications such as Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne certification. Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication are critical soft skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and understanding business requirements. These skills and qualities are essential to deliver efficient technical solutions that align with business processes and ensure the stability and scalability of enterprise systems.

What are some common challenges JDE developers face when integrating JD Edwards with other enterprise systems?

JDE Integration Specialist- SDFC

IDEX

Cedar Falls, IA • On-site

Full-time

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

If you're looking for a special place to build or grow your career, you've found it. Whether you're an experienced professional, a recent college graduate or somewhere in between, IDEX is a place where you can apply your existing skills and learn new ones in an environment where you can make an impact.

With interesting opportunities in engineering, marketing, sales, supply chain, operations, HR, finance, and more across more than 40 diverse businesses around the globe, chances are, we have something special for you.

About the Role

IDEX's Severe Duty Flow Control (SDFC) segment operates four business units - Viking Pump, Warren Rupp, Abel, and Richter. The SDFC segment runs on JD Edwards as its enterprise ERP and depend on JDE for product data, pricing, inventory, and order management - and all of that data flows downstream to customer-facing platforms like SAP Commerce Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and Brandfolder DAM.

The JDE Integration Specialist owns making those integrations work. You design the data flows, write the middleware, monitor the sync health, and ensure that when a new BU onboards or a regional JDE instance (India, China) comes online, the integration is clean, consistent, and repeatable. You are the technical owner of the ERP side of the stack - partnering with the Group Platform Manager who owns the SAP Commerce Cloud side.

What You'll DoJDE Integration Architecture
  • Own the integration architecture between JD Edwards and all SDFC customer-facing platforms - SAP Commerce Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics, Brandfolder, analytics tools.
  • Design and build the middleware and orchestration layers that move product, pricing, inventory, and order data from JDE to downstream systems.
  • Ensure SAP platform functions (product catalog, pricing logic, order sync, inventory visibility) work as anticipated - troubleshoot when they don't.
  • Define error-handling, retry logic, and recovery paths so integration failures are observable and recoverable.
Data Flow Quality & Monitoring
  • Monitor integration health - sync success rates, error rates, latency, data-quality metrics.
  • Build and maintain the integration health dashboard so stakeholders (BUs, platform managers, IT) can see what's working and what's broken.
  • Enforce data validation and cleansing rules at the source (JDE) before data syncs downstream.
  • Lead root-cause analysis on every P1 data-quality or integration incident; document fixes and prevent recurrence.
Regional JDE Consistency (India, China)
  • Support India and China JDE implementations - ensure they configure to the SDFC standard template.
  • Design and implement US regional data mirroring so that regional entities can operate with local JDE instances while maintaining global visibility.
  • Standardize processes and configurations across all SDFC JDE instances; document and reconcile drift.
  • Work with regional IT teams to ensure integration patterns and data flows mirror the US model.
IDEX JDE Liaison & Platform Coordination
  • Be the primary conduit between SDFC and the IDEX corporate JDE team.
  • Coordinate on platform upgrades, patches, and configuration changes that impact SDFC integrations.
  • Represent SDFC-specific integration requirements in IDEX JDE roadmap discussions.
  • Escalate and resolve cross-BU or cross-entity JDE issues that require IDEX-level intervention.
Documentation & Process Ownership
  • Document integration architecture - data-flow diagrams, field mappings, sync schedules, error-handling paths.
  • Maintain runbooks for common integration incidents so BU platform managers and IT can troubleshoot.
  • Build automated testing for critical data flows (product sync, pricing updates, order creation).
  • Ensure onboarding documentation exists so new BUs can integrate to JDE using the SDFC standard.
What You'll BringExperience
  • 5+ years working with JD Edwards (JDE) - configuration, customization, or integration development.
  • Hands-on experience building integrations between JDE and customer-facing platforms (eCommerce, CRM, DAM, analytics).
  • Deep knowledge of JDE data structures - product, pricing, inventory, sales orders, customers.
  • Experience with middleware and orchestration tools (Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, custom APIs, or JDE-native orchestration).
  • Track record managing data quality and integration monitoring in a multi-BU or multi-entity ERP environment.
  • Comfort working with offshore or regional IT teams to standardize processes across geographies.
Capabilities
  • Technically hands-on - you write code, build integrations, and troubleshoot sync failures.
  • Architecturally rigorous - you design flows that scale across multiple BUs and regions.
  • Data-quality focused - you enforce validation at the source and monitor it downstream.
  • Strong communicator - credible with both IT/ERP teams and business-side platform managers.
  • Process-oriented - you document the work and build repeatable patterns rather than one-offs.
  • Proactive problem solver - you surface issues before stakeholders notice them.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience required.
Tools & Technical Skills
  • JD Edwards (JDE) - deep working knowledge of data structures, configuration, and orchestration capabilities.
  • Middleware / integration platforms (Dell Boomi, MuleSoft, or equivalent).
  • APIs - REST, SOAP, webhooks.
  • SQL and data transformation logic.
  • SAP Commerce Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics, and Brandfolder integration patterns (ideal but not required).
Work Environment Requirements
  • Travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, use hands to finder, handle or feel and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must have good vision, color vision and the ability to focus.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Certain positions with IDEX Corporation and its business units require access to controlled goods and technologies subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations. Applicants for these positions may need to be "U.S. Persons," as defined in these regulations. Generally, a "U.S. Person" is a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or an individual who has been granted refugee or asylum status.
