What You Will Do: The IVF Lab Assistant works collaboratively with the laboratory team. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records, ensuring quality control and safety protocols compliance, preparing and handling laboratory equipment and supplies, and performing basic laboratory procedures. The Lab Assistant reports directly to the IVF Lab Supervisor.

  • Assemble, organize, and file patient charts, freeze cards, FDA paperwork, and consent forms; conduct quality assurance/control of patient charts according to CAP guidelines.
  • Monitor lab emails, phones, and EMR, to answer questions, address requests, direct to appropriate resource, and follow-up through completion.
  • Generate daily surgery schedule for OR and IVF Lab; coordinate with the Doctor(s) and IVF staffs’ schedule.
  • Maintain all active ART patients in the IVF portal, verify accuracy of patient data, demographics, procedures, etc.
  • Coordinate daily ART procedures (egg retrievals, embryo transfers, male infertility procedures, egg warms, rebiopsy, non-invasive CCS, and EEB banking warm for culture); ensure patients and IVF staff are informed.
  • Assign incubator location for IVF Lab patients, enter patient information in Electronic Witnessing system, and affix labels on charts, incubators, media setup, and patient wristband.
  • Scan completed IVF/FET lab forms into patient EMR for Doctor/Nurse reference and ensure IVF/FET cycles are sent to business office and genetics.
  • Collect and input on-going SART data, audit charts for required information, transfer SART data from EMR into current database, and coordinate SART reporting to meet CDC requirements.
  • Interpret ART notes to enter and place orders in IVF Laboratory information system (LIS) and ensure Genetics’ CCS results are recorded in LIS.
  • Assist cryopreservation specialist with embryo scheduling, physical cyro-inventory, and embryo shipment documentation.
  • Maintain/update Cryoinventory database, Transfer database, and Harvest database; assist with data manipulation and presentation as needed.
  • Obtain/maintain Mayo Clinic’s “Shipping and Receiving Hazardous Materials” certification.
  • Serve as a witness to the Embryologist during CCS processing, vitrification, and warming.
  • Review disposition and dispose of embryo(s)/oocytes and maintain accurate records.
  • Understand/assess potential domestic violence and child abuse and know reporting responsibilities; will report concerns to IVF Laboratory Supervisor or Medical Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • High School diploma or GED certification required.
  • Associates degree or higher preferred.
  • Medical lab experience preferred.
  • Computer database programs experience required.

CCRM’s Compensation: The salary range represents the national average compensation for this position. The base salary offered will vary based on location, experience, skills, and knowledge.
