POSITION SUMMARY (ET/IVF Laboratory Technician)
The ET/IVF Laboratory Technician will utilize a strong foundation in assisted reproductive technologies and standard laboratory techniques, including gamete handling, embryo culture, cryopreservation, and aseptic technique. Under the supervision of the Lab Manager, the Technician will perform daily ET/IVF laboratory procedures, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and ensure all work is performed according to established protocols and quality standards. The Technician may be assigned independent tasks or special projects and may assist with training new personnel in laboratory procedures.
This position requires flexibility to work multiple shifts, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Evening shifts include a pay differential.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
• Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and maintain professional communication with team members.
• Perform daily ET/IVF laboratory procedures, including:
- Oocyte handling, evaluation, and maturation
- Semen preparation and quality assessment
- Fertilization procedures (IVF)
- Embryo culture, grading, and documentation
- Embryo cryopreservation by slow-freezing (DT)
- Embryo vitrification, warming, and loading for transfer
• Always maintain sterile technique to prevent contamination of samples, culture media, or laboratory equipment.
• Operate, maintain, lab equipment such as incubators, heated stages, microscopes, centrifuges, laminar flow hoods, cryogenic storage systems, and warming devices.
• Perform routine quality control and quality assurance tasks, including calibration, environmental monitoring, and media/equipment checks.
• Record and manage data using laboratory software systems, spreadsheets, databases, and electronic recordkeeping platforms.
• Follow all biosafety and universal precautions for handling biological materials, gametes, embryos, chemicals, and cryogenic agents.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and inventory management of media, consumables, cryogenic supplies, and biological materials.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including development of SOPs, troubleshooting, and special projects.
• Assist in training new or temporary staff on laboratory procedures and best practices.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Reproductive Physiology, or related field preferred
• 2+ years of experience in a laboratory setting; experience in ET/IVF, embryology, or andrology strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict laboratory protocols
• Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and database software
• Strong manual dexterity and ability to perform fine motor tasks under a microscope
• Demonstrated ability to maintain aseptic technique and work in a controlled laboratory environment
