Job description

Role Overview:
The Metering Application Support Lead will be responsible for the overall support, stability, and continuous improvement of the utility metering application landscape. This individual will serve as the primary technical lead for Itron applications including UtilityIQ (UIQ), Itron Enterprise Edition (IEE), AMI/AMR systems, and associated integrations with CIS, Meter Data Management, and downstream billing platforms. The role requires strong application support expertise, stakeholder management, incident and problem management leadership, vendor coordination with Itron, and the ability to lead global support teams while ensuring SLA compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead L2/L3 support activities for Itron Metering applications.
  • Own production support, incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
  • Ensure high availability and stability of metering applications.
  • Monitor application health, interfaces, batch jobs, and data processing workflows.
  • Drive service restoration activities during production outages.
  • Support and maintain Itron UtilityIQ (UIQ) and Itron Enterprise Edition (IEE) environments.
  • Coordinate IEE upgrades, patching activities, and vendor-led enhancements.
  • Manage Itron vendor escalations and support tickets.
  • Support configuration and scheduling activities within IEE.
  • Monitor meter ingestion, data collection, validation, and exception management processes.
  • Support AMI and AMR metering operations.
  • Ensure seamless integration between metering platforms, MDM, CIS, billing, and field systems.
  • Troubleshoot meter read failures, communication issues, and interval data exceptions.
  • Support VEE (Validation, Estimation, and Editing) processes.
  • Ensure meter data integrity across utility systems.
  • Lead critical incident calls and stakeholder communications.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
  • Drive reduction of recurring incidents through automation and process improvements.
  • Maintain knowledge articles and operational runbooks.
  • Lead onsite/offshore application support teams.
  • Conduct daily operational reviews and service governance meetings.
  • Manage SLA/KPI reporting and compliance.
  • Mentor support engineers and technical specialists.
  • Support transition, knowledge transfer, and stabilization activities.
