Job Description
PositionSummary
The SterileProcessing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing theday-to-day coordination of supplies, instrumentation, andequipment to support Surgical Services. This role ensures theefficient ordering, tracking, and maintenance of instrumentsandsupplies while supporting regulatory compliance,qualitydocumentation, and staff education. TheCoordinator plays a keyrole in materials management,data integrity, and cost-effectiveoperations thatcontribute to positive clinical and financial outcomes.
Job Functions
  • Manage dailyordering and inventory of clinical and non-clinical suppliesto support Surgical Services.
  • Coordinateinstrument ordering, repairs, and returns to ensureoperational readiness.
  • Track andmaintain regulatory and quality documentation in accordancewith organizational and industry standards.
  • Perform dataentry and maintenance within instrument trackingsystems.
  • Develop andsupport staff education materials related to sterileprocessing and supply management, as needed.
  • Monitor andmanage consignment inventory, including tracking usage andreconciliation.
  • Review andmonitor the expiration dates of medical and surgical suppliesto ensure compliance and patient safety.
  • Maintain theintegrity of implant logs and ensure accuratedocumentation.
  • Utilizeinformation systems (e.g., Mediclick, Microsoft Office,Surginet, Kreg) for tasks such as maintaining shopping guides,updating Surgical Item Master, and managing supplydata.
  • Assist withanalysis of supply utilization and support recommendations forbudget and clinical practice improvements.
  • Participate inthe research, evaluation, and selection of supplies andequipment.
  • Coordinatelogistics related to product trials, purchasing, receiving,and ongoing evaluation of supplies and capitalequipment
  • Support ValueAnalysis Committee processes, including preparingdocumentation and facilitating new item requests.
  • Collaborate withthe appropriate staff to ensure accurate documentation ofbillable supplies in patient records to support appropriate billing.

Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least three (3) years supply chain & inventory controlexperience in a hospital/healthcare environment required
  • SPD experience required; anesthesia tech or scrub techexperience preferred.
  • Strong math & analytical skills; able to analyze financialand budget reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate,negotiate, and promote conflict resolution
  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines through criticalthinking skills
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic computer hardware & network troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to multi-task between projects
  • Working knowledge of Materials Management Information Systemand standard office software applications
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 30 lbs., stand for 8 hours, stoop, bend, pull, and push as required.
