Job description

Nanny/Governness/Educator Position in Pacific Heights, San Francisco

A family in Pacific Heights, San Francisco is seeking two ROTA nannies/governesses/educators for their two-year-old daughter. The ROTA schedule will be two weeks on/two weeks off. It is very important to the family that there is cohesive and continued communicated care between the two nannies; handover must be done extremely well with communication between the nannies being impeccably strong and thorough. This is a fully-staffed home with a chef and housekeepers. The role is a hybrid one: they are looking for a professional who can lead their daughter's early education and development; cultivate language, manners, and etiquette by example, and model the standards of communication and conduct the parents desire. Above all, they are seeking impeccable character, patience, and refinement, paired with real intellectual substance. The parents were raised between Europe and the United States, and that upbringing instilled in them a lasting regard for rigorous education, fine manners, and the quieter virtues of character and conduct and this should likewise be reflected in the candidates to hire and how their child is brought up. The role begins as soon as a great fit is found. They strong prefer and will give preference to nannies already in CA and/or can do a one-hour flight at the most to/from SF.

Responsibilities
  • The child can do addition, subtraction, and counts to 100; loves books; loves words and numbers, so being able to create and implement daily educationally-enriching activities and lesson plans/curriculum as tailored for the child is desired for this role.
  • The nannies must have excellent driving skills and a clean driving record just in case they need the nannies to drive the child.
  • The nannies will be responsible for anything and everything related to the child including her laundry; must be able to prepare, warm up, plate plus serve the child's food (there is a chef however the child may need the nannies to be able to prepare foods if needed); must be able to chop the child's food and fruits to serve at all times. Prepare snacks if needed. If needed, they may need to be able to prepare side dishes such as additional vegetable dishes, tomato salads, chop cucumbers, avocados or roast potatoes.
Qualifications
  • US/EU citizenship is a bonus.
  • A skier is a bonus.
  • Homeschooling experience is a plus.
  • Specifically, Preschool/Kindergarten teaching experience is a plus.
  • French-speaking is a plus; if not, Italian or Spanish.
Requirements
  • They prefer British or other international candidates with a college or university degree in Early Childhood Education or Childhood Development, or a degree related to a childcare focused-field (I.E., Education, Child Psychology, etc.). They prefer a degree, not a certificate.
  • Must have teaching experience for a minimum of five years, whether in the public or private sector with homeschooling being a plus. Preschool/Kindergarten teaching experience specifically is a plus.
  • Must be comfortable around cats and NOT allergic at all; they have three cats.
  • Must be a native English-language speaker.
  • Must be bilingual; French a plus, or Italian or Spanish.
  • Must have a minimum of 15 years' of experience combined as a nanny/governess/educator.
  • No baby-talking and must teach the child proper conversation such as, "May I please have a water?" Instead of, "Can I have a water?" or "Water please", etc.
  • Swimmer.
  • Someone seeking longevity in this job, growing alongside the child's ages and not out of her ages.
  • Energetic.
  • Has experience/expertise as a professional childcare expert.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Very clean in the sense of overall cleanliness, organization, and hygiene.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified.
  • Licensed driver with a clean driving record.
  • Able to nurture the child's mind and learning stages thoughtfully - never with pressure, but with structure, warmth, and a genuine love of learning. The family believe she would flourish in the care of someone who understands both the science of early childhood development and the older art of raising a child to be gracious, articulate, and kind.
Salary and Benefits
  • The family is open on salary for this role, starting at $150k+. Note: the salary you input should reflect you meeting their requirements of being a former teacher of at least five years (homeschooling is fine, but not tutoring), having a degree in a childcare related field (not a certificate), having a total of 15 years of experience combined as a nanny/governess/educator, and speaking a second language.
