IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) Specialist

The IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) Specialist is responsible for testing, data wiping, and verifying functionality of desktops, laptops, servers, and related IT equipment after items have been pre-received into the Brokerage Management System (BMS). This role ensures high levels of production quality, accuracy, and adherence to departmental procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use a scan gun or keyboard to accurately enter data into the Brokerage Management System (BMS).
  • Operate a pallet jack to move skids to and from the work area.
  • Navigate PC, laptop, and tablet BIOS settings to adjust boot order.
  • Launch programs and diagnostics to perform secure drive wiping.
  • Use hand tools and power drivers to remove covers, CD-ROMs, batteries, and other components for basic troubleshooting.
  • Connect network cables/dongles and boot devices to the network for BMS connectivity.
  • Verify general functionality of monitors, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Perform simple self-audits by comparing captured data in BMS to physical product on pallets.
  • Demonstrate strong soft skills including positive attitude, teamwork, ownership, and process-improvement mindset.

Qualifications:

  • Eagerness to learn and grow in an IT/warehouse environment.
  • Highly motivated, engaged, and able to work well in a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced setting.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware (hard drives, RAM, peripherals).
  • Familiarity with inventory systems or barcode scanners is a plus.
  • Ability to use hand tools and follow ESD-safe handling.
  • Understanding of data wiping or data security concepts (trainable).
  • Ability to meet required receiving levels for a minimum of eight (8) consecutive months.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior IT/warehouse experience helpful but not required.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear in person and via multimedia.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and movement between work areas; ability to ascend/descend stairs.
  • Use of hands to operate tools, IT equipment, and standard office devices.
  • Ability to frequently lift IT equipment ranging from1 lb. to 75 lbs.
  • Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
