What does an IT Weekend professional do?

An IT Weekend professional is responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, and monitoring of IT systems during weekend hours. Their duties may include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, responding to helpdesk tickets, and ensuring that networks and servers run smoothly outside of regular business hours. This role is crucial for organizations that operate 24/7 or require consistent uptime, as it ensures that technical problems are addressed promptly, even on weekends.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an IT Weekend professional?

To thrive as an IT Technician, you need strong knowledge of computer hardware, software troubleshooting, networking, and typically a degree or certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional. Familiarity with operating systems, ticketing systems, and remote support tools is essential in daily tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills, patience, and effective communication help you address user issues efficiently and foster positive interactions. These skills are crucial for minimizing downtime, maintaining system reliability, and ensuring smooth technical operations in any organization.

What are some typical challenges faced by IT Weekend professionals, and how can they prepare for them?

Job description

Weekend Dog Walker - Outward Bound Hounds

Hours: approximately 10 hours per month. This is a small, occasional role with limited hours. This is the perfect job for someone looking to make supplemental income. Please note this is, not a traditional part-time job with consistent weekly hours.

A quick note before you apply: this role covers a limited number of weekend walks each month, roughly 10 hours total. It's not 20-30 hours a week, and it won't turn into that. If you're looking for substantial, regular weekly hours, this isn't the right fit - better to know that now. If a small, reliable set of weekend walks fits your life, keep reading.

Outward Bound Hounds is a warm, tight-knit team that treats people and pets like family, with clear communication and support whenever you need it. Weekend walking pays a solid hourly rate for flexible, occasional work that fits around a weekday job or school schedule. Since OBH promotes from within, reliable walkers may have the opportunity to may have the opportunity into Shift Lead or coordinator roles over time - those come with more hours, but this posting is specifically for the light, weekend only coverage described above.

A note on evenings: we don't have a standing 8-10 PM shift. Evening help comes up occasionally, tied to overnight bookings, generally in the 5-9 PM window depending on the client -not a fixed nightly slot.

What a Weekend Looks Like You'll receive walk assignments through Time To Pet and head to client homes across Gaithersburg, Kentlands/Lakelands, Potomac, and surrounding areas - typically a handful of visits per day, not back-to-back appointments. Each visit means safely leashing and walking the dog, following care notes (feeding, meds, routes, quirks), watching for safety issues like weather or reactive behavior, and logging a quick visit update afterward. Between visits you'll drive to your next stop, so a reliable vehicle and some route-planning are part of the job. Some visits may also involve small extras like refreshing water or grabbing mail, depending on the client.

Outward Bound Hounds is a Montgomery County-based dog walking and pet sitting company trusted by local families since 2017. We treat every dog like our own and build real relationships with clients -- which is why so many become long-term, recurring clients.

What This Role Involves

  • Showing up for your scheduled weekend walks on time
  • Logging a quick visit update after each walk
  • Following each client's care notes closely
  • Being someone the team can count on for weekend coverage

What's In It for You This is a limited, part-time role -- about 10 hours a month, paying $18-$22/hour based on experience. Best suited for someone who wants occasional, dependable weekend work alongside a weekday job, school, or other primary income - not someone looking to fill a full or even part-time schedule. Includes flexible scheduling within that footprint, holiday pay for visits worked on designated holidays, and a 401(k) with company matching. No PTO, but real earning potential for active, outdoor work with a supportive team - and a track record of promoting reliable walkers into Shift Lead and coordinator roles with more hours as the business grows.

Our Core Beliefs Dependability comes first - clients trust us with their pets' safety and routine, so showing up and following through matters most. We believe in clear, proactive communication so nothing falls through the cracks. Every dog gets the same care and attention we'd want for our own -- never rushed, never just a task on a list. And we grow our own team from within, giving reliable walkers a real path toward leadership and more hours when they're ready.
