Job description

Sun Tran is seeking an experienced, hands-on IT Manager to lead the daily operations of our IT department. This role is ideal for a technology professional who enjoys balancing strategic planning with hands-on technical support while ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient technology services that support public transportation operations.  


QUALIFICATIONS: 
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related professional/technical field (or equivalent experience). Five years of experience in IT systems, help desk, and network administration. Applicants should possess advanced technical knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, networking, hardware and software administration. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff are required. A valid Driver’s License is required.


MAJOR FUNCTIONS: 
Provides leadership and oversight for Sun Tran’s IT operations while delivering exceptional technical support to internal customers. Responsibilities include: 
• Administering help desk operations and providing technical support to end users. 
• Installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting workstations, software applications, specialized equipment, and proprietary platform hardware. 
• Developing and implementing technology goals, policies, standards and system improvements.  
• Managing network administration firewalls, core infrastructure, data backups, disaster recovery, and communications systems in coordination with City IT. 
• Leading technology projects, evaluating system performance, and planning system performance and planning system upgrades and replacements. 
• Preparing technical specifications, procuring IT equipment and software and network asset inventories. 
• Developing and maintaining SOPs, technical documentation and end-user support materials. 
• Administering security badge systems, building access control, and specialized operational software. 
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
