Position Overview
The Director of IT Applications Development and Business Intelligence provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's enterprise application portfolio, with particular focus on systems supporting finance, lending, and program delivery. Reporting to the CIO, this role ensures that business applications meet today's operational needs while evolving to support emerging capabilities-particularly those enabled by artificial intelligence-in partnership with the Director of IT Program Management and Director of IT Infrastructure and Security.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Define and execute a multi-year strategy for enterprise business applications that anticipates how AI is transforming software development, configuration, analytics, and operational support.
Guide the evolution from static, heavily customized systems toward configurable, composable platforms enhanced by AI-driven insights, automation, and decision support, while maintaining strong governance, data integrity, regulatory awareness, and human accountability.
Advise in translating business, financial, and lending requirements into scalable, future-ready application strategies.
Partner with the Director of IT Program Management to align application strategy with portfolio planning and delivery sequencing.
Application Portfolio Management
Oversee the day-to-day operations and lifecycle management of enterprise business applications, including financial, lending, CRM, ERP, and program management systems. (Salesforce, NetSuite, Box, IvyTek Finance, other SaaS partners)
Establish application standards, architectural principles, and integration patterns that support adaptability.
Establish standardized intake, prioritization, and lifecycle governance frameworks across enterprise applications and reporting to support transparency, accountability, and portfolio alignment.
Evaluate vendor roadmaps and emerging technologies.
Business Partnership & Delivery
Partner with finance, lending, operations, and program leaders to assess business processes and identify application solutions that improve accuracy, transparency, efficiency, and decision-making.
Work jointly with the Director of IT Program Management to support portfolio-level prioritization and stakeholder communication.
Lead application modernization initiatives in alignment with the broader IT roadmap.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
Lead, mentor, and develop application managers, developers, analysts, and administrators (Salesforce/NetSuite Team, Data/BI Team)
Foster a collaborative team model that empowers team members and functional leads to drive solution design and continuous improvement.
Evolve team skills and delivery practices as AI increasingly influences development, testing, configuration, and support workflows.
Data, Security & Governance
Partner with IT security to ensure applications meet security, privacy, regulatory, and audit requirements.
Establish governance practices for data usage and AI-enabled functionality, particularly for finance and lending systems.
Vendor & Financial Management
Evaluate, select, and manage application vendors and implementation partners.
Oversee application budgets, licensing, and renewals to ensure value-driven technology investments.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
10 years minimum experience with significant experience leading enterprise business applications or development teams.
5+ years in a leadership role overseeing enterprise business applications, platforms, or application development teams
Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
Subject matter experience supporting finance, lending, banking, or financial operations, including systems related to loan origination, servicing, grants, underwriting, or financial reporting.
Experience designing enterprise integration patterns (APIs, ETL/ELT, SaaS integrations)
Experience leading enterprise reporting modernization initiatives
Experience implementing AI-enabled enterprise platforms.

LISC offers a competitive salary ($146,264-$186,487) and excellent fringe benefits.
