It's More Than a Job
The National Contract Logistics Information Technology Manager, under the guidance of the North American Information Technology Manager, the right candidate will serve as the primary interface between the Contract Logistics National and Global Organizations and the local business operations teams. At Kuehne+Nagel, our work really contributes to more than we realize.
In the role of the National Logistics Information Technology Manager, you will provide functional, technical and operational expertise for any WMS projects in the country along with supporting CL presales activities and driving the adoption/implementation of standardized systems. The role will help to specify and validate requirements with the operational teams, and act as design lead for complex implementations. The right candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset and a tendency towards 5S in the workplace.
How you create impact
  • Provides process definition / improvement for current and future WMS operations
  • Act as Design Lead and/or vet new WMS implementations or where KN WMS is in scope, in accordance with KN Standards such as Computer System Validation where appropriate.
  • Drive Partner Management including scope definition, SLAs/KPIs, Finance and partner consultant evaluations
  • Provide the relevant technical expertise around products, integrations and advance warehousing concepts / functionalities
  • Provide direct systemic functional and technical support as required to the national CL IT Support team and operations when needed.
  • Oversee, mentor, and develop the CL IT Implementation team to support the complete WMS portfolio, successfully executing on both client implementations and internal strategic/ change management initiatives
  • Inform strategy with global and regional resources to ensure that national and regional requirements are being built into global solutions that meet country/region strategic direction
  • Ensure that the necessary integration points, methods, and solutions in the country are aligned with the Regional/global strategy and are able to become best practices within the country
  • Drive conformance to Contract Logistics guidelines and CTI project methodology
  • Manage the configuration and deployment of new WMS instances to meet the requirements of the operational design teams as far as possible within the standard functionality available in the WMS.
  • Coach team members to specify high quality Functional and Technical Requirements Specification to support development in order to address any functional gaps in the product to meet the requirements laid out in the Logistics Concept.
  • Account management of agreed operational accounts, including periodic reviews, improvements, IT Service Management and roadmaps.

What we would like you to bring
  • 5 years of experience in transportation, warehousing and/or supply chain management ideally in 3PL with focus on technical solutions including warehouse management systems, transportation management systems, warehouse automation solutions, order management systems and/or Enterprise Application Integration tools
  • 3 years of team management/leading
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Business Management or equivalent experience in a Contract Logistics environment.
  • Solid knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems/Warehouse Control Systems/Integration capabilities & logic
  • Knowledge of 3PL industry and requisite solutions landscape
  • Strong integration (EDI/API) experience with warehouse applications
  • Technical understanding of warehousing system logic, shop floor processes and device management capabilities.
  • Solid analytical abilities and experience in problem solving, project management and process improvement.
  • Proven ability to define customer requirements, excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Experience of actively managing internal and external customers and suppliers / partners
