Job description

The Senior Business Analyst - IT & Process Improvement will play a critical role in driving technology and business process optimization initiatives. This role focuses on gathering and managing business requirements, mapping processes, interfacing between IT and business stakeholders, and ensuring solutions meet organizational goals. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, Agile expertise, and hands-on experience with tools like JIRA, Quality Center, and BPMN modeling. This position demands excellent communication skills, collaboration across teams, and the ability to deliver high-quality project artifacts throughout the system development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:

  • Gather, document, and manage business, functional, and technical requirements aligned with IIBA standards.
  • Develop detailed business process models (using BPMN/swim lane diagrams) to support process improvement initiatives.
  • Interface between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and understanding of project goals.
  • Create use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, test plans, test scripts, and validation documentation.
  • Lead and facilitate workshops, meetings, and requirements sessions with both technical and business audiences.
  • Manage and document project artifacts following Amtrak's Project Life Cycle Management (PLM) guidelines.
  • Support Agile project delivery by contributing to backlog grooming, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards throughout project execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are scalable, measurable, and aligned with enterprise goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and recommend actionable improvements.
