The role develops and executes asset management strategies covering acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and secure disposal while maintaining centralized inventories and configuration records using dedicated ITAM and discovery tools. The IT Asset Manager collaborates with procurement, finance, security, and operations teams to align asset decisions with budgeting, licensing, and risk requirements, using asset data and analytics to inform refresh plans, optimization opportunities, and audit responses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish IT asset management policies, standards, and workflows for tracking hardware, software, and licenses from acquisition through disposal across the enterprise.

  • Maintain accurate inventories and repositories using ITAM platforms such as ServiceNow and SCCM, reconciling data across discovery tools, procurement systems, and configuration databases.

  • Monitor license usage and contract terms to ensure compliance, reduce over-licensing or under-licensing risk, and support effective vendor negotiations.

  • Coordinate with security and operations teams to ensure assets meet configuration, patching, and end-of-life requirements for mission-critical systems.

  • Analyze asset utilization, lifecycle costs, and refresh cycles to recommend optimization, standardization, and replacement strategies that balance cost and risk.

  • Produce asset reports and dashboards for leadership, finance, and audit stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting, and compliance activities.

  • Work with IT teams, procurement, and stakeholders to plan asset forecasting, maintain stock levels, and support timely deployment and recovery of IT assets.

  • Support audit and assessment activities by providing accurate asset records, lifecycle documentation, and evidence of compliance with enterprise policies and standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • 4-7 years of experience in IT asset management, configuration management, or related operational roles managing hardware and software inventories.

  • Strong understanding of IT asset management principles, including lifecycle management, inventory control, and software license management in enterprise environments.

  • Hands-on experience with ITAM and discovery tools such as ServiceNow and SCCM for asset tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.

  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification such as Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) or an equivalent ITAM credential.

  • Experience implementing or maturing ITAM frameworks aligned to ISO/IEC or similar best practices in large enterprise or government organizations.
