How you'll contribute
A Market IT&S Director who excels in this role:
  • Provides strategic leadership and oversight for Information Technology & Services (IT&S) across the assigned market.
  • Aligns market IT operations with enterprise strategies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Ensures reliable, secure, and efficient technology solutions that support clinical, operational, and business objectives across multiple facilities.
  • Partners with system IT leadership, market/facility executives, and cross-functional teams to drive innovation, performance improvement, and data-informed decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Enterprise Alignment & Strategic Leadership
Serve as the primary liaison between market/facility leadership and enterprise IT, ensuring market/facility needs are represented in system-wide planning and that enterprise strategies are effectively implemented at the market/facility level.
Participate in enterprise governance councils and contribute to the development and enforcement of data governance, cybersecurity, and technology standards.
Lead the market's IT strategic planning process, aligning technology initiatives with market, facility, and enterprise goals.
Operational Excellence & Service Delivery
Oversee day-to-day market-level IT operations across assigned facilities, including infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and support services, ensuring high availability and performance of clinical and business systems.
Ensure IT service management processes, incident response, and change management are consistently implemented and monitored across the market and in accordance with enterprise policies.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) and participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
Project & Change Management
Lead or support enterprise IT initiatives across all market facilities, including but not limited to EHR upgrades, cybersecurity initiatives, digital transformation efforts, and initiatives to reduce technical debt within the market's data center; perform other duties as assigned.
Champion change management, staff training, and adoption of new technologies, leveraging enterprise resources and best practices.
Collaboration & Relationship Building
Foster strong relationships with market/facility leadership, clinical teams, and enterprise IT peers to ensure technology solutions meet operational and clinical needs.
Engage with external vendors and partners as needed, following enterprise procurement and vendor management guidelines.
Financial Stewardship
Collaborate with market/facility financial leaders to support cost containment strategies and ensure technology initiatives align with organizational priorities.
Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost savings, and revenue generation through technology.
Talent Management & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the market's IT team, promoting a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Support enterprise talent initiatives, including workforce planning, succession management, and staff engagement.
Performance Improvement & Innovation
Drive continuous improvement in IT service delivery, leveraging data analytics, benchmarking, and enterprise performance metrics.
Promote a culture of innovation, encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies that advance patient care, operational efficiency, and data security.
What we're looking for
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field required, or 7+ years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:
  • 5+ years of progressive IT management experience, with at least 3 years in healthcare and multi-site or enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with hospital IT operations, EHR systems, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and project management. Experience with multi-site hospital IT operations preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills; ability to collaborate across clinical, operational, and enterprise teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and IT staff development.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in healthcare IT.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

The position is: on-site
For those working on-site, they will have a well-lit, ventilated and climate-controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or hospital environment
In hospital environment, the individual may be exposed to hazards and unusual elements, which may include but are not limited to bloodborne pathogens and / or contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and biohazardous materials which may require extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.
This position can expect overnight travel by land and/or air according to the requirements below:
Travel Requirements: 25-50%
Normal business hours are: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. However, schedules may vary by business necessity. Remote workers are expected to be available during normal business hours, unless otherwise approved by the department leader(s).
