Position Summary

Verra Mobility is seeking a strategic and hands-on VP of IT Operations to lead the enterprise infrastructure, end-user computing, systems, database, and service desk functions that keep the business running. This leader is accountable for the reliability, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of Verra Mobility's global IT operations. The VP will build and lead high-performing teams, mature operational processes, and ensure IT services consistently meet the needs of a fast-growing, technology-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Systems

  • Own the strategy, design, and operation of enterprise infrastructure including data centers, cloud environments, networks, servers, storage, and virtualization.
  • Ensure high availability, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity for all core systems.
  • Drive cloud adoption, migration, and optimization initiatives to improve scalability and manage cost.
  • Establish and maintain infrastructure standards, monitoring, and automation to reduce manual effort and downtime.

Database Operations

  • Oversee database administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and lifecycle management across platforms.
  • Ensure database availability, integrity, and scalability to support enterprise applications and analytics needs.
  • Partner with application and data teams to align database architecture with business requirements.

End-User Computing (Hardware & Software)

  • Manage the full lifecycle of user hardware and software, including procurement, provisioning, deployment, patching, and asset management.
  • Standardize end-user technology and software licensing to improve consistency, compliance, and cost control.
  • Deliver a modern, productive, and reliable technology experience for all employees.

Service Desk & IT Support

  • Lead the IT service desk and support operations, ensuring timely, high-quality resolution of incidents and requests.
  • Define and manage SLAs, KPIs, and continuous improvement for support performance and user satisfaction.
  • Implement ITSM best practices (incident, problem, change, and request management) and appropriate tooling.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT operations organization, including managers and technical staff.
  • Develop and manage the IT operations budget, vendor relationships, and contracts to optimize value and spend.
  • Establish operational metrics and reporting to communicate performance, risk, and progress to executive leadership.
  • Partner cross-functionally with application, security, privacy, and business teams to support enterprise initiatives.
  • Drive process maturity, automation, and continuous improvement across all IT operations functions.
Qualifications

Required

  • 12+ years of progressive IT experience, with 5+ years in senior IT operations leadership.
  • Proven track record leading enterprise infrastructure, systems, database, end-user computing, and service desk functions.
  • Deep expertise in cloud (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), networking, virtualization, and enterprise systems.
  • Strong experience with ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and IT operations tooling.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, manage budgets, and lead vendor relationships at scale.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at the executive level.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred

  • Experience in a high-growth, multi-site, or global organization.
  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • Relevant certifications (ITIL, PMP, cloud architect certifications, etc.).
  • Experience supporting a technology- or transportation-focused business.
