Job description

CMC is a fast-growing Managed Services Provider (MSP) based in Exeter, NH, and we’re looking for a Senior IT Engineer to join our in-house team. This is a deeply hands-on role ideal for someone who loves solving complex problems, working directly with clients, and being a key player in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

You’ll be the go-to expert for escalations, project implementations, and systems design. You’ll work closely with our clients and internal teams to ensure environments are running smoothly, securely, and efficiently. This position is based out of our Exeter office and may include local travel to client sites in the Boston area. This is a hybrid position, with 1-2 days in the office each week.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Tier 2 technical support for escalations and complex issues
  • Architect and implement infrastructure and cloud solutions for small to mid-sized businesses
  • Support and maintain environments including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, virtualization (VMware), Fortigate firewalls,, and Rubrik backups
  • Perform on-site visits for project work, assessments, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with account managers to align IT strategy with client business goals
  • Document client environments and follow best practices for security and standardization
  • Provide mentorship to junior team members and help develop SOPs
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support when required

  • Experience with firewalls, switches, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs)
  • Virtualization experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware
  • Familiarity with RMM/PSA tools like ConnectWise or similar
  • Strong communication skills and client-facing professionalism
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-growing MSP environment
  • Certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, VMware) are a plus but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms, Teams Phone systems, or modern cloud-first infrastructure solutions

Nice-to-Haves

  • PowerShell or other scripting/automation experience
