Job description

Position Summary: **LOCATED AT OUR CORPORATE OFFICES IN MITCHELL, SD ** The Systems Infrastructure Engineer is a mid-to-senior level technical role responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Muth Electric's core IT infrastructure across multiple facilities and cloud environments. This role will provide hands-on expertise in systems (primary focus), networking (secondary focus), storage, and virtualization, while supporting enterprise security initiatives. The Infrastructure Engineer ensures the availability, resiliency, and security of IT services that enable Muth Electric's business operations.

Position Responsibilities: Infrastructure System Management (primary) Administer and maintain Windows server environments Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP Support virtualization platforms Maintain storage systems (SAN/NAS) and file services Oversee patch management, system hardening, and performance tuning Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions Monitor infrastructure health and availability Maintain identity and access management systems Network Support (secondary) Support LAN/WAN infrastructure including switches and routers Configure and troubleshoot VLANs and VPN connections Assist with firewall configuration and rule management Support wireless infrastructure Troubleshoot connectivity and network performance issues Security & Compliance Support Apply infrastructure security best practices Support vulnerability remediation efforts Assist with audits and compliance initiatives Engineering & Projects Participate in infrastructure upgrades and migrations Contribute to infrastructure automation (PowerShell, scripting) Support infrastructure standardization and improvement initiatives Operational Support & Optimization Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated infrastructure and system-related issues. Identify opportunities for automation, performance improvement, and modernization of IT services. Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, diagrams, and knowledge base articles.

Communicate and reinforce company vision, values and goals to company personnel Performs additional assignments as directed by IT Director and/or Executive Leadership Required Skills: Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and storage solutions Strong knowledge of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching) Experience with M365 cloud platform Familiarity with security frameworks, vulnerability management, and incident response Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Key Competencies: Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills Ability to balance operational support with project work Strong documentation and communication skills Proactive and improvement-focused mindset Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross section of individuals Commitment to company values Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or systems administration roles Relevant certifications a plus (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware VCP, CompTIA Security+, CCNA) .
