We are seeking an Infrastructure Lead who would be responsible for day-to-day support, administration, and continuous improvement of GrayMatterโ€™s core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, endpoints, and collaboration platforms. This role combines technical depth with team leadership, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable systems that support business operations and growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can guide infrastructure strategy, manage operational priorities, support end users, and partner closely with cybersecurity, applications, and business stakeholders to deliver dependable technology services.

General Job Duties:
  • Infrastructure Operations Leadership โ€“ Lead daily operation, support, and improvement of core infrastructure services, ensuring availability, stability, and responsiveness across the environment.
  • Cloud, Server, and Platform Administration โ€“ Oversee administration of cloud and on-premises systems, including Microsoft 365, Azure, servers, storage, backups, and related infrastructure platforms.
  • Network and Connectivity Management โ€“ Maintain secure and reliable connectivity across offices, remote users, and cloud resources, including LAN, WAN, firewalls, VPN, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Endpoint and User Computing Services โ€“ Guide endpoint management, device standards, patching, provisioning, and support processes to deliver a secure and consistent end-user experience.
  • Security, Risk, and Continuity โ€“ Partner with cybersecurity leadership to strengthen infrastructure security, access controls, disaster recovery, backup integrity, and business continuity readiness.
  • Project Delivery and Technical Improvement โ€“ Lead infrastructure projects and technical initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, standardization efforts, and automation opportunities that improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Vendor and Partner Coordination โ€“ Work with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to support operations, evaluate solutions, and resolve escalated infrastructure issues.
  • Team Guidance and Escalation Support โ€“ Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and escalation support for infrastructure and service desk staff while promoting documentation, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Lead Core Infrastructure Support and Administration โ€“ Oversee the administration and support of servers, networking, Microsoft 365, cloud services, backups, and end-user infrastructure.
  • Own Operational Stability and Service Quality โ€“ Monitor system health, respond to incidents, manage problem resolution, and drive improvements that reduce downtime and improve user experience.
  • Execute Infrastructure Projects and Roadmap Items โ€“ Plan and deliver infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle replacements, migrations, and standardization efforts aligned with business and IT priorities.
  • Strengthen Security and Recovery Readiness โ€“ Support infrastructure security standards, access controls, patching, backup validation, and disaster recovery preparedness in coordination with security and leadership teams.
  • Partner Across IT and the Business โ€“ Collaborate with leadership, application owners, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to align infrastructure capabilities with operational needs and future growth.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5-8 years of progressive IT infrastructure experience across cloud, server, network, endpoint, and support environments
  • 2-4 years of experience leading projects, mentoring team members, or serving as a senior technical escalation point
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, identity and access management, endpoint administration, backups, and core networking concepts
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead through influence, mentor team members, and manage escalations effectively
  • Experience balancing operational support, project work, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Attention to detail, documentation discipline, and sound change management practices
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service quality and reliability
