Job description

Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Administrator to provide technical support for the AFCENT Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) at Shaw AFB as part of a 24/7/365 support environment.  This is a full-time position.


  • Provide Tier 1 enterprise IT help desk technical support to AFCENT users.
  • Troubleshoot and implement solutions to resolve incidents and problems on supported systems, network infrastructure, voice, and video, to include enterprise-level routers, switches, servers, firewalls, proxies and caching arrays.
  • Monitor systems/network performance metrics and trends to identify substandard performance and anomalies.
  • Escalate complex systems/network performance, bandwidth and security issues and incidents to senior engineers/SMEs (Tier 2 and 3) for analysis and resolution.
  • Perform Local Registration Authority (LRA) duties.
  • Provide LAN support and WAN Enterprise support.

3+ years experience in systems and network support.  Must be Security+ certified (or hold an equivalent certification in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT Level II).  Must be CCNA or Network+ certified.  Must hold the ITIL Foundations certification or be able to obtain the certification within 60 days of hire.  Experience providing LAN/WAN support.  Experience with firewall administration.  Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding of Microsoft server installation, roles, Active Directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.  Experience supporting DoD projects.  Must have strong communication skills and be able to interact professionally within all levels of an organization.  Must be able to provide support in a 24/7/365 environment including occasionally covering shifts outside of the assigned shift and/or providing after hours, weekend, or holiday support as needed on a rotational basis.  Must be able to travel to CONUS sites to provide TDY support.  Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
