Description
Packaging Operators report to the In-Plant Operations Supervisor are directly responsible for performing essential packaging functions in a safe and productive environment. They are responsible for safe movement and packaging of all customers' product. They are required to check and complete all required paperwork. They may also be required to maintain inventories, operate forklifts, perform light maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment. Packaging Operators will need to communicate any issues to management and maintenance to maintain 100% up time on production. Packaging Operators will comply with all company and customer site-specific requirements.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Operate and maintain safe packaging, material handling, and visual inspection operations within the guidelines and policy.
  • Complies with all Company and customer safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Utilize any onsite Safety programs such as the JLA process.
  • Operate and maintain GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and 5S methodology.
  • Maintain housekeeping in designated workspace around the warehouse packaging and material handling operation.
  • Operate with quality assurance in adherence to standards and requirements.
  • Makes constructive procedural and operational improvement recommendations to the Management
  • Efficiently manages own time, activities, and resources. Identifies specific activities required to accomplish objectives, coordinates and takes action to achieve required results.
  • Performs tasks as assigned by supervision and/or management.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Support the efforts of management in meeting profit and growth objectives as established in the strategic business plan.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and the organizations.
  • Work safely, within the company guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).

Operational coverage
  • Packaging Operations: 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 day a year operational coverage required to always ensure uptime for Plant Processing/Production Operations.
  • Rotating days/nights shift work, 12-hour shifts, on a 4 on/4 off schedule
