Remote opportunity What You Will Be Doing
Seeking a highly skilled Technical Publication Author/Writer to join our team supporting the F-16 program. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, developing, writing, and converting legacy (SGML) technical manuals into S1000D (XML) format in compliance with program and military specifications. You will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and sustainment teams to ensure accurate, clear, and user-friendly publications that support F-16 maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational readiness. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional writing skills, and experience interpreting engineering data to produce high-quality technical documentation. Key Responsibilities
• Research, write, and edit technical content for F-16 aircraft maintenance and operations manuals in compliance with contractual and military specifications.
• Apply applicable style guides, formatting standards, and publication specifications to ensure consistency across deliverables.
• Review and validate technical content for clarity, accuracy, and compliance prior to publication release.
• Support publication updates in response to customer feedback, operational findings, and aircraft configuration changes.
• Maintain documentation schedules and ensure timely delivery of assigned technical publications.
• Utilize content management systems and publishing tools to prepare and deliver electronic and/or printed publications.
• Ensure all documentation meets quality assurance requirements and passes internal and external audits. Basic Qualifications/Required Skills • 4+ years experience/knowledge of multiple aircraft systems such as Hydraulic, Lighting, Air Conditioning, Fire Protection, Oxygen, Emergency Power, Crew Escape and Safety, Canopy Jettison, Ejection Seat, Ice Protection, Pneumatic Supply, Towing and Taxing, Ice Protection, Structure (Doors, Panels and Structures) Corrosion Control, Nondestructive Inspections, Propulsion, Avionics, Weapons
•2+ years of experience in either Standard Group Markup Language (SGML) tagging or Extensible Markup Language (XML) tagging
• 2+ years prior technical writing experience Desired Skills:
• Prior military aircraft maintenance experience preferred
• Experience with any military aircraft platform(s) that uses XML, S1000D, and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) in a composite environment
• Experience using Epic Editor, Isodraw, Arbor Text Tool Suite, XML, S1000D or similar applications
