Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) - Part-Time Physician Opportunity

0.6 FTE | Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center 6-Bed Inpatient Rehab Program

SWRMC is seeking a Board-Certified/Eligible Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Team in a part-time (.6 FTE) capacity. This is an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitative care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary hospital-based environment.

Position Overview

The PM&R Physician will provide medical oversight and direct patient care for a 6-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, partnering closely with therapy services, nursing, case management, and hospital leadership to support functional recovery and safe transitions of care.

This role is ideal for a physician seeking meaningful clinical impact, predictable scheduling, and work-life balance, while remaining engaged in inpatient rehabilitation medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the attending physician for patients admitted to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
  • Serve as the IPR unit Medical Director leading quality, efficiency, and clinical performance improvement efforts
  • Perform comprehensive rehabilitation evaluations and ongoing medical management
  • Collaborate with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and case management teams
  • Lead interdisciplinary team conferences, care planning, and transitions
  • Ensure consistent compliance with CMS, accreditation, and documentation standards for inpatient rehab
  • Support quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives within the rehab program
  • Coordinate care with referring physicians, hospitalists, and post-acute providers as needed

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
  • Eligible for or currently licensed in the state of Virginia
  • Inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills
