Irs Contractor information

What is an IRS contractor?

IRS contractors are private individuals or companies hired by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide specialized services such as information technology support, auditing, collections, or consulting. Unlike IRS employees, contractors are not government staff but work under specific contracts for set periods and tasks. Their work helps the IRS manage workloads, access specialized expertise, and complete projects efficiently. However, contractors must adhere to strict confidentiality, security, and ethical standards when handling taxpayer information.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an IRS contractor?

To excel as an IRS Contractor, you typically need expertise in accounting, auditing, tax law, or information technology, supported by relevant degrees or certifications such as CPA, EA, or security clearances. Familiarity with IRS systems, tax preparation software, and secure data management tools is crucial. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and clear communication set top performers apart in this role. These skills and qualifications ensure compliance, data integrity, and effective collaboration on sensitive government projects.

What challenges do IRS contractors face when adapting to government processes and regulations?

IRS Contractors often encounter challenges navigating the complex landscape of federal regulations and compliance standards, such as strict security protocols and documentation requirements. Adapting to the pace and structure of government workflows, which can be more formal and process-driven compared to the private sector, is another common hurdle. Successful contractors are those who proactively communicate with their federal counterparts, stay updated on regulatory changes, and are diligent about meeting all contractual and legal obligations. Building familiarity with government systems and establishing solid relationships with IRS staff can significantly ease the transition.

Gohfr, Inc.

Waynesboro, VA โ€ข On-site

$16 - $20.25/hr

Contractor

Posted 4 days ago

Job description

Company Description

Gohfr is a modern on-demand delivery platform that empowers businesses to deliver goods directly to their customers efficiently and reliably. As a trusted partner in logistics—particularly within the healthcare industry—we connect professional drivers with businesses that rely on timely, secure, and customer-focused deliveries.

Job Description

Gohfr is seeking reliable independent contractor drivers to provide scheduled pharmaceutical delivery support out of Waynesboro, VA, Monday through Saturday, for a healthcare/pharmacy client. This is an ideal opportunity for independent drivers looking for consistent, meaningful work delivering time-sensitive pharmaceutical products to patients and facilities in the region.

As a Gohfr Contractor Driver, you will pick up pharmaceutical products from the client's Waynesboro service center and deliver them to locations throughout the surrounding service area (up to approximately a 2.5-hour radius). Contractors sign up for and commit to a full scheduled shift (approximately 8-10 hours) on their selected day(s), and are responsible for completing all deliveries assigned during that shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick up pharmaceutical products and related items from the client's Waynesboro service center
  • Deliver to assigned locations promptly and professionally throughout the service area
  • Handle all products with care, following required delivery protocols, including any temperature-sensitive or chain-of-custody handling instructions
  • Provide excellent customer service during all patient and facility interactions
  • Maintain professional, courteous conduct throughout all deliveries
  • Communicate promptly with Gohfr and the client regarding any delivery issues, delays, or exceptions
  • Navigate longer-distance, multi-stop routes efficiently, including routes that may extend well beyond the immediate Waynesboro area
Qualifications
  • 21+ years of age
  • Reliable vehicle: large SUV or Van required
  • Own a smartphone (iOS or Android) with data plan for using the Gohfr app
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license (CDL not required)
  • 3+ years of proven driving/delivery experience (medical or gig economy preferred)
  • Experience with other gig platforms (e.g., Uber, DoorDash, Amazon Flex) highly desirable
  • Pass criminal and motor vehicle background checks
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Fluent in English (bilingual drivers welcome)
  • Maintain vehicle insurance, registration, and inspection
  • Submit a completed IRS Form W-9 for 1099 contract classification
  • Professional appearance and current profile photo in app

Additional Considerations

  • Ability to lift and transport packages up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable driving in all weather conditions
  • Reliable availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong navigation skills and professionalism are a must

Additional Information

This is an independent contractor position, not an employee position. Contractors are engaged under a 1099 arrangement to provide delivery services during shifts they sign up for and commit to complete, consistent with the terms of their Gohfr Independent Contractor Agreement. Contractors:

  • Choose which available shift days to sign up for (Monday through Saturday) and are responsible for completing all deliveries within a shift once committed
  • Provide and maintain their own vehicle and equipment
  • Are responsible for their own tools, expenses, vehicle costs (including fuel for longer routes), and applicable taxes
  • Are not entitled to employee benefits, minimum wage, or overtime
