Key Responsibilities
Plan Administration & Compliance
  • Be responsible for the full administration cycle for a block of defined contribution retirement plans
  • Perform non-discrimination and compliance testing, including ADP/ACP, 410(b) coverage, top-heavy, 415 annual addition limit, 401(a)(4) cross-testing and other necessary measurements
  • Calculate and allocate employer contributions
  • Reconcile payroll contributions to determine prior activity aligns with prior instructions and reconcile employee census data to determine current year plan eligibility
  • Review and approve participant distribution and loan requests performed by a centralized, supporting group
  • Review Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) and calculate distributions to alternate payees
  • Reconcile trust assets and contributions, interpreting trust financial statements to resolve discrepancies
  • Support plan conversions and takeovers, including coordination with prior TPAs, investment advisors, and clients
  • Interpret plan document provisions to ensure accurate, compliant administration
  • Ensure clients adhere to government filing and regulatory requirements

Government Filings & Regulatory Support
  • Complete, review, and provide audit support for Forms 5500, 5330, 8955-SSA, 1099-R, and related schedules
  • Review and validate work completed by other plan administrators and support staff to ensure accuracy prior to delivery
  • Maintain and expand ERISA compliance and software knowledge in step with evolving regulations and our evolving technology platform capabilities

Client & Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and consultant for an assigned block of clients, guiding plan design and ongoing maintenance to meet their needs
  • Consult with clients on the timely deposit and remittance of deferrals and employer contributions
  • Assist clients in navigating plan sponsor and participant recordkeeping portals
  • Accompany relationship managers to client and participant meetings, contributing to discussion and presentation of plan results
  • Develop effective working relationships with clients, internal teams, and external advisors, recordkeepers, and auditors supporting shared client relationships
  • Identify and surface opportunities for new business development

Analysis & Communication
  • Review, analyze, and summarize plan data in clear, succinct written communication to support Advisors, Consultants, and fellow Plan Administrators
  • Serve as a technical resource for research and plan analysis projects for internal and external clients

Professional Development
  • Align with continuing education requirements and pursue ongoing credentialing
  • Participate in professional organizations and independent study to stay current on ERISA and industry developments
  • Integrate new knowledge and skills into daily work, sharing insights with colleagues as appropriate

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in business administration, business analytics, mathematical economics, finance, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
High school diploma required.
Experience
Three to five years of directly related experience in retirement plan administration and consulting.
Credentialing (one or more preferred):
  • ASPPA: Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA), Qualified Plan Specialist (QKS), Qualified 401(k) Consultant (QKC), and/or Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA)
  • NIPA: Accredited 401(k) Specialist (AKS), Accredited Pension Administrator (APA), and/or Accredited Pension Representative (APR)
  • IRS Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA)
  • NAPA: Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) and/or Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC)

Technical Skills
Experience with Stax.ai, FT William, and PensionPro strongly preferred; familiarity with ASC a plus. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams. High degree of technical and legal knowledge, including familiarity with the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA as they apply to qualified plans.

The base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
